5 Ways to Be More Mindful on A Cruise

by Kosher River Cruise Kosher Tour Operator

A cruise, especially with Jewish tours, can be an amazing way to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you shouldn't practice mindfulness, which is the act of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. Diving headfirst into a new environment is an excellent opportunity for practicing mindfulness skills like being aware of yourself in the moment, taking in surrounding details, and living in the present. Here are five ways to be more mindful on your next cruise:

Start your Morning with a Workout

One of the best ways to start your day is with a morning workout, and one of the best places to do so is on a cruise ship. There are endless opportunities for both active and relaxing activities, so you can choose something that fits your mood and schedule.

A morning workout will help you get in touch with your body as well as wake yourself up mentally. This sets you up for the rest of the day by giving you energy, improving your mood and giving focus during work or school hours. By doing this every day for a week or two before leaving home, you'll be able to set yourself up for success in meeting goals like losing weight or increasing muscle mass on vacation.

Explore the Ship on Your Own Time

While you're waiting for your next activity or meal, take advantage of the downtime by walking around the ship and looking at everything. Look at all of the art, architecture and history that goes into making a cruise ship. Look at all of the people who come together to make it happen—from those serving guests in restaurants to those working behind-the-scenes in maintenance. And look at all of the food being prepared for your dining experience!

After you've explored on foot, consider getting up close and personal with some other modes of transportation as well: check out some of the onboard museums or enjoy an evening stroll along one of the jogging trails.

Dine with New People

Dining with people from all over the world is a great way to learn about different cultures. You can learn a lot about a person by their dining choices and table manners, but it's also worth being mindful of who they choose to dine with.

Read a Book in an Unfamiliar Place

Reading a book is an excellent way to relax during your cruise. It’s also a great way to learn about new places, people, and even yourself! Reading can help you slow down and take in the beauty around you in a way that sitting by the pool or gazing out at sea cannot.

Take a Walk Around the Deck Before Bed

Before you go out on a walk, you should take some time to prepare. Calmly make yourself a cup of tea and sit down with a good book or your favorite music on your phone. Take the time to slow down and breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth three times before setting off.

When you’re ready to start walking, begin at whatever pace feels comfortable for you. This is not necessarily an exercise in speed or endurance; indeed, if this is your first time doing it then very little pressure should be put upon oneself at all! You can pick up speed as you get more used to being mindful during this activity though so don’t worry about getting things right straight away either!

Cruising is one of the best ways to be mindful. It’s a vacation, after all! But cruises themselves are also full of opportunities for mindfulness if you know what to look for. If you want to enjoy your cruise vacation with kosher riverboat cruises, try to incorporate some of these tips into your daily routine. Not only will it make you more aware and present in the moment, but it will also save you from wasting time on your phone. It will help you develop new friendships and meet new people, which can lead to lasting connections beyond the cruise itself.
