Himalaya – the ethereal land of snow, endless natural beauty, thick pines, undulating slopes, and spiraling trekking trails, is an alluring destination for both nature and adventure lovers. Himalaya has some of the highest peaks, and more than hundreds of them reach to about 7000 meters. Trekkers would get all kinds of facilities while trekking along the challenging Himalayan trails as many training camps and trekking base units facilitate this adventure activity. There are around 15 great treks that start from Bhutan to India along the Himalayan ambit. Here is a mention of some of those wondrous trek routes.

Everest Base Camp

It is an all time favorite trek destination. The panoramic view of the Everest, the lovely tea houses, winding trails, and an uninterrupted view of the world’s tallest peaks would make the best of your 11 day trek. Where the trail ends, you can directly look up for the ice fall of the Khumbu Glacier at around 3500 meters above you. This trek would give you the chance to behold the ten tallest peaks in the world, among which counts the majestic Lhotse (8,516 m/27,940 ft) and the breathtaking Cho Oyu (8201 m/26,906 ft). The best time for trekking along this trail is from September to June.

Poon Hill and the Annapurna Base Camp

This is a combination camp that can also be done separately. You get fabulous tea house lodging along this trail. In case, your time is short, of around 4-5 days, Poon Hill can be considered as one of the best short treks along the Himalayas. It offers the best views of Mount Annapurna. The much famed Annapurna Sanctuary lies near the Annapurna base camp where you can enjoy an exotic view of Annapurna I (the 10th tallest peak in the world). The route to the base camp has adjacent views of hanging glaciers and the cliff of Machapuchare, locally known as ‘Fish Tail’ or the ‘Matterhorn of Asia’.

Manaslu Circuit

It is a 14 to 16 day tea-house trek that revolves around world’s 8th highest peak. This is a substitute to the trek around Annapurna Circuit. It is usually crowded during the month of October and in the past few years; the number has surged to almost 2000.

Makalu Base Camp Trek

It is usually a 16-day trek that leads to the base camp of Makalu (8463 m), which is the world’s 5th tallest peak. This is not a tea house trek, and thus, you will have to arrange and organize your camp. The trek starts from 435 meters height and heads for the Barun Valley to the Makalu base camp. The sheer experience of wilderness during this trek will surely retain long lasting images of the virgin forests and those mesmerizing alpine meadows.

Upper Mustang Trek

It is all about the ancient Tibetan cultures of Nepal and desert beauty. This is an 18-day trek that starts from Jomsom and follows the Annapurna Range. You will need a special permit to access this area. This is indeed a very remote trek that takes you close to some of the ancient monasteries and caves. The terrain is dry and mountainous, somewhat similar to Ladakh.
This was just a slice of what mammoth Himalayas can offer. People who love camping, trekking and treading the mountains should never miss trekking along these popular Himalayan trek routes.
