5 Traits of a Good and Active Security Guard

by Eva Spenser Innovation

Given the rise in the crime rates around us, there are times when security systems as that of CCTV cameras or alarm systems don’t help in preventing crime. The need for a security guard becomes mandatory when it comes to monitoring things closely. They are the ones who are trained to handle problems, come with solutions and report things to the higher authorities for further action especially when the crime is grave.

Anyone who is a static guard in Sydney is supposed to prevent crime either by monitoring belongings or by keeping a close eye on the security systems. Apart from that, there are multiple duties that a security guard fulfils and here are a few of them brought down for you to know.

They are to stay visible

When it comes to making their presence felt, it only then does criminals and miscreants stay away. One way to being visible is by wearing a uniform that stands out. Taking rounds of the area can make people understand their presence. Thieves or simple miscreants get to be aware and conscious about their movement, which reduces crime rates.

They are to stay alert all the time

Being alert means to be observant as well as being receptive to sounds or strange smells. Being able to gauge any wrong deeds or activities taking place is what a duty of a security guard is. He/she is expected to understand what the situation is and what the activities indicate and only then can they take further actions.

Being quick with the response and actions

Whenever there is a wrong activity spotted, the security guard is expected to be quick with their response and take actions immediately. Whether it is to detain the miscreants for further investigation or to report the problem to higher authorities, they are responsible for being fast with their actions and the outcome.

Coordinating well with the authorities

If the gate house security in Sydney on duty isn’t equipped to handle the matter, the higher authorities such as the police need to be informed, and the security guard must do so. When they are capable o handling things themselves, then to the management needs to be informed and only then the next step is to be taken.

They should have a stern attitude

Security guards can be friendly, but that doesn’t mean that they are unable to take actions against miscreants due to the fear of being judged. They are meant to control crime and take necessary actions to curb it, and they cannot be soft in handling things that are regarded as a crime.

When it comes to choosing a security guard/s for your premise, it is necessary that you check the background of those who will be helping you. They should be a team that has the necessary license as well as the right training for the security guards. It is only then can you rest assured that your premise is secured and protected by the best people.
