5 Tips for Better Sleep This Spring

by Halcyon Dreams Australian Wool Quilts Online

Sleep is important for many different reasons. Experts suggest that you should try to get eight hours’ sleep a night to function properly and benefit your overall health, both physically and mentally.

Read on for 5 tips on how you can achieve better sleep this spring.

1. Look after your body and eat well

It is important to look after your body for many different reasons. Eating well has multiple benefits with one of the biggest being able to get better sleep at night.

When you have had a good night’s sleep, you feel more ready for the day ahead. Try to exercise in the day, even if it short and light, because this will help you to have a more restful night.

2. Make your bedroom a haven that is conducive to sleep

Your bedroom needs to be somewhere where you feel comfortable and can relax fully. If you are not feeling comfortable and relaxed, your body will struggle to shut off and sleep.

Consider how comfortable your mattress is. Do you sink into it when its bedtime and feel relaxed, or do you struggle to get comfortable? If it is the latter, it could be time to invest in a new mattress.

It is also important to consider the type of bedding you are using. At night, you want to feel cool and comfortable; using a natural fibre duvet like an Australian wool quilt will help to keep you cool as the season warms up by wicking away any moisture.

For ultimate comfort levels, you can also purchase an Australian wool underlay and experience what it’s like to really get a good deep sleep.

3. Follow a routine

Even when we become adults, it is important to follow a routine because this will help to improve your sleep. Go to bed when you feel sleepy; if you go too early, you will become frustrated when you cannot sleep.

Aim to go to bed at the same time each night because your body will become used to the signal that it is time to shut off and go to sleep.

4. Be careful with light

Natural light during the day is important; it signals to your body that it is time to be awake.

At night, try to avoid blue lights from televisions, phones and computer screens etc. before bed, as these can stimulate your brain and prevent you from sleeping. Also, try to make your bedroom as dark as possible.

5. Relax and unwind

Finally, make sure you relax and unwind before you go to bed. If your head is whirring with all the things you must do, you will find it hard to sleep. Perhaps try having a bath, or doing another activity that relaxes you.

Once you follow all of the above, we’re sure you’ll be able to get into a deeper stage of sleep each night and become a more energised version of yourself in the morning.
