5 must-go events for Singapore’s 51st National Day
The balloting
for this year’s national day tickets has just begun. This 2016, expect a bigger
celebration as a new theme - Building our Singapore of tomorrow, is announced.
After a decade of buoyant celebrations at the Marina Bay floating platform, the
National Day Parade (NDP) is coming home to the National Stadium. This year,
the National Stadium at Sports Hub will accommodate about 275,000 Singaporeans,
more than twice the number of spectators in previous years! Besides NDP16, we
are first to bring you a hit parade of events that celebrates our nation’s
birthday!

Fly high on the Singapore Flyer
Treat yourself to displays of fiery pyrotechnic
birthday flames illuminating the Singapore skyline from 165 meters above
ground. National day presents an opportune moment to feast your senses as you
ride on the 360 degree Singapore Flyer observation wheel. Not only would your
eyes enjoy the festive sights, you can also delight your olfactory and
gustatory senses in dining and drinking to Singapore’s golden years! Get to 30
Raffles Avenue or take a 5-minute walk from the Promenade Station (Circle Line,
CC4) to catch a ride on the Singapore Flyer this August 9.

Visit the iconic Istana
Our very own nation’s
Presidential palace is the place to discover. In celebration of National Day,
Istana Open House opens its gate to the public at Orchard Road. Tour the
historic magnificence of the Istana in guided nature walks and building tours
through the afternoon for just $2 for Singaporeans and $4 for non-Singaporeans.
What is best is that all proceeds will be donated to charity. What better way
is there to show your appreciation for your nation?

Weekends at National Gallery
Explore Singapore with your little ones through art at the National Gallery’s Keppel Centre for Art Education. What better way to enculturate your children about Singapore through art on the Sunday leading up to the Singapore’s birthday than to visit the National Gallery?
