Ambronay

Arrange a rental car for the day for a drive about 60 kilometers from the city of Lyon to reach the village of Ambronay. Ambronay is a charming tiny village with roots from the 13th to 15 centuries. You’ll have the chance to see the Abbaye d’Ambronay, with its beautiful cloister and church. Ambronay is an especially great choice for a day trip if you will be visiting during September or October. This is because the annual Festival d’Ambronay is held during weekends in those months. This is a classical music festival.

Pérouges

Pérouges is located 40 kilometers from Lyon. It is a walled town of medieval origin. You’ll be charmed by its position on a hilltop that overlooks the Ain River. After this, consider walking along a footpath leading to the park close-by. You’ll just love the beautiful landscape.

Don’t miss out on seeing the Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat that surrounds the village. There are hiking trails you might enjoy.
