5 Chic Ways to Refresh Your Go-To Summer Basics
Let me reiterate: I do not hate summer. But I am a little sick of my summer clothes right now. Anyone else? But maybe I just need to find some fresh and inspired ways to wear my go-to jean shorts and printed dresses. Luckily, I can look to a handful of international cool girls spotted on the streets of cosmopolitan Paris for some chic new layering ideas to bring new life to those well-worn wardrobe staples. Because I really would miss those trusty pieces if they were in storage...

The printed, stripe-y dress: Fashion blogger Lena Mahfouf inventively added contrasting prints, color, and texture to her vintage black and white striped dress. She threw a chevron-paneled coat over her shoulders and accessorized with spiked cap-toe Christian Louboutin heels and a silver embossed Karl Lagerfeld tote.

The graphic t-shirt: Model Masha Novoselova glammed up (and edged up) her doodle tee from Colette by tucking it into a red flared Miu Miu skirt and layering it under a Golden Goose moto-jacket. Her Helmut Lang cut-out heels and yummy Chanel bag complete the off-duty look. Also, kudos to the photog on finding the perfectly matching graffiti backdrop.

The basic white tank: Marie Marcombe dressed up her summer layering basic by wearing it with a sculptural pastel blue pantsuit by Anais Guery.

Jean shorts: Yes, you can wear your cut-offs all year round. Model Mia Omyalieva made her H&M jorts fall-ready by covering up with snakeskin printed tights, a quilted Naf Naf top, and a worn-in Zara moto-jacket. HerDolce & Gabbana backpack, Mickey Mouse-printed scarf worn as a belt, and patent oxfords complete her grown up, back-to-school-inspired look.
Billowy pastel pants: Fashion blogger Angelica Ardasheva turned her summer weight pink trousers into a transitional piece by matching them with a white button-down shirt and pastel blue bouclé jacket (all from Zara). She finished off her outfit with neutral blocked heel sandals from Mango and roomy tote by Gianni Chiarini.
