5 Best Practices for Marketing on Facebook

Facebook is constantly evolving and growing practically on a daily basis. There are massive opportunities for businesses to market and expand their reach to customers they didn’t previously have access to. Adhering to a few best practices can position your business in front of the right people and keep you there.

Your goal isn’t to get the most eyeballs on your posts, it’s get the right eyeballs on your posts – which would be those of your ideal prospects and customers.

To get a better return on your time and/or financial investment on Facebook, following are some tips that can help you boost your brand credibility and profitability.

Videos are in -

In fact, Mark Zuckerberg has stated,

“I think video is a megatrend, almost as big as mobile.”

Thanks to some creative, viral videos people have become enamored with watching videos. They work for both business and entertainment because our brain processes what we view by way of video 60,000 times faster than what we read.

Therefore we, as humans, tend to gravitate toward the visual. And the stats are there to prove it. An average of 100 million hours of video is viewed every single day on Facebook. That’s almost beyond comprehension.

Videos attract us more than any other visual medium.

People engage for a longer time. And we can pull them into our message much more quickly than having them read. Posting attractive video can dominate your social media. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just tap into Facebook Live or check out that will make you look like a pro in just minutes even if you have no tech skills.

Take full advantage of your business profile -

Make sure to optimize your business profile. Obviously, the basics use those 155 characters in the “About your page” section wisely. It’s the most prominent description of your business.

Make sure your images and photos are clear (not blurry) and stand out, your header can even include anything – use this space to capture your visitors’ attention.

Add a description and tags to your cover page so the Facebook “bots” can send you viewers that are more closely match your desired audience.

On the “Page Info” section fill it in with more detailed information about your business. You’d be amazed at how many people actually read this if they’re interested in what you have to offer. Adding a call to action, like clicking on to your website to learn more or subscribe to your newsletter is always recommended.

Include Images as much as possible –

Plain text posts tend to get overlooked since they’re not visually grabbing viewers’ attention. In fact, posts with images have a whopping 87% interaction rate as compared with text only posts.

That’s huge!

Get access to over a million free images at Pixabay, then use Canva (also free) to create awesome, unique, eye catching images for your posts.

Use Hashtags that are currently trending –

This is called Trendjacking.

It’s like hitching a ride on a train passing by millions of people who will at least catch a glimpse of you.  First, don’t be afraid to jump on this bandwagon – but use this tactic with caution.

It can sometimes backfire and cause your brand to be exposed in ways you did not intend.

The use of hashtags, even if they’re not on the “top trending “ list, can still give you great exposure since your posts will show up in lists of what people are searching for on Facebook.

Using Hashtagify will help you find relevant hashtags for your posts and help you increase your exposure.

Add an Instagram account on your Facebook page -

Instagram is rapidly becoming an effective marketing platform, since Facebook owns Instagram it makes sense to utilize both to maximize your reach.

Simply connect your Instagram account to your Facebook account. When you integrate your Instagram you get the benefit of having two social media accounts at one place.

All of your Instagram posts can be easily shared on Facebook, which means you have an extra chance to capture your viewer’s attention by sharing images and videos.

Facebook is a marketing powerhouse.  It can be confusing and, at times, somewhat overwhelming.  But taking it one step at a time can save you a lot of headache, not to mention time and money.
