5 Aspects of Marble Stone That Make It Ideal For Kitchen Countertop

by Dillon Patterson Article Publisher

Marble is widely popular natural stone that is used for creating beautiful and durable surfaces, including floors, walls, and counters. Since it is a delicate and porous stone, there are many who believe that marble does not make a wise decision for building kitchen counters.

However, this belief is far from the truth. Just for your information, marble is as suitable for counters as granite. Granite is also a highly porous material, and just like marble, it is also a natural stone.

If the counters of both the materials are given care the right way, they will barely outperform each other. Both the materials last forever. So, it would be wise and right to mention that marble counters are as good as granite counters.

But what are those traits of marble stone that make it a great choice for creating kitchen countertop? We discuss this under the following subsections -

1. Beauty

Marble is known for its beauty. If there is one thing on earth that you can call natural beauty, it is going to be - marble stone. World famous monuments are built using marble. It blends in a high-level elegance in your kitchen.

You can bring nature and the marvellous natural charm by creating marble kitchen counter. For that, you can use slabs or stone tiles - both available in a diversity of sizes which you can choose based on your requirement and design idea.

2. Durable

You cannot overlook the longevity of this building material. It is one of those materials that are solid like rock. These kitchen counters last forever, literally.

They do not demand much of your attention in respect of maintenance. That's mainly because of the resilient surface finish that come pre-applied on the stone (tile or slab) surface. This strong surface coating is able to protect the stone from heat damage, water damage, moisture, splashes of water, and different types of food spills.

Apart from that, you are required to seal the stone after the counter has been installed. This enhances the durability and resistance of the counter.

3. Heat Resistance

It is pretty common and obvious that you would take off a hot utensil from a burner or electric cook top, and put it directly on the kitchen counter. Doing so is not going to cause any damage to your marble kitchen counter.

Why? The answer to that lies somewhere in the way the stone has been formed. Marble is a natural stone processed from rock, which forms under immense heat in the earth's crust.

The cooking temperature we use in our kitchen is nothing when we compare it with the amount of heat under which the rock has formed. Marble stone counter can withstand burning high temperatures in our kitchen without experiencing any damage.

4. Affordable

Some would say that it is the most expensive natural stone in the world. But I would counter that its price varies depending on a number of factors that include (but are not limited to) the site or quarry where the stone has been processes. The number of impurities or patterns on the stone tile or slab also defines its price.

To be specific, it could cheaper than granite in some conditions. To get the best rate, you will need to broaden your research and locate vendors that deliver stones from nearby quarrying sites.

5. Truly Unique

This is the best part of marble (or any other natural stone). As mentioned, marble is known more for its visual properties such as its delicate color, texture, and veining patterns.

Did you know that every marble stone tile is unique? Not two marble slabs or tiles look exactly same. That's what makes this stone truly unique and desirable.
