5 Aspects for a Proper Installation of Gate Motors

by Eva Spenser Innovation

Automated gates are no longer a luxury. They are a necessity, taking into account the rising threat perceptions and the need for taking evasive actions to negate those threats.

However, there are a lot of things to take into account while installing these gates. Here on this page, we need to take a dig at some o the aspects that are to be considered during installation of gate motors, for automating the mobility of the gates.

Considering the Safety Quotient

This is one of the most important aspects that need to be considered. You need to find, to what extent the device can go to meet your safety needs.

If a push-button, a key switch or a digital keypad is more than enough to open or close the gate, the devices have to be within the gate's line of sight. However, they should not be installed in such a way, so that the user might be tempted to reach out to it, through the gate to open it. If the authorised user can do so, a trespasser can do the same.

Thus, these gadgets should ideally be installed at a strategic location that will serve the safety purpose and at the same time, be handy to be used by those authorised.

Taking into account the nature of Use

Motors of sliding gates are designed to be used in commercial and residential sectors. Residential motors are meant to be used by a solitary residence and are used only a handful of times all throughout the day.

However, the ones that are meant for the commercial sector or in a condo or a resident community are meant to be used by many and can facilitate opening and closing of the gate umpteen number of times in a day and night. Thus, these motors have to be sturdier than their counterparts that are used in the residential sector.

The Power Options

Most of these motors that are available in the market are designed to be plugged into a PowerPoint at a gate; they are then hard wired to the mains. Some motors come up with low voltage power options, where they plug in at point quite a distance away from the gate, with a low voltage cable connecting the motor with the device set up at the gate.

This is a far more economical option than installing the mains voltage, which comes up with a battery backup option so that you do not have to be concerned about the power outage.

The third option is using a motor that is powered by solar energy. These are the most economical and are reliable as well, which will keep the cost down.

Cable Installation

For the main power to the run-up to the gate, a minimum 600 mm long cable has to be trenched through the lawn, and that is the reason, a seasoned technician is the need of the hour, who will do all the main power cable installation for an appropriate gate automation that will fulfil the cost.

Motor Rating

It is essential to use a motor, which is large and powerful enough for the designated gate. Motors of sliding gates are rated for the gate’s weight on the ground level. If the driveway has a slope across it, it is imperative to use a motor with a higher rate.

So these are some of the essential aspects you need to consider before installing a motor gate. All you need is a quality installing company that has been working in this niche for years.
