Following a 17-16 upset of the Atlanta Falcons, Reggie Wayne JerseySan Francisco 49ers coach Jim Tomsula withstood a barrage of questions about whether Blaine Gabbert had earned the starting quarterback position, and three times he refused to say whether highly-paid backup Colin Kaepernick would remain on the bench. What did you like from Gabbert today, and is he your quarterback after the bye? "Right out the http://www.coltsonlineofficialstore.com/Ricky-Jean-Francois-Jerseygate. We're going to enjoy today. Gabbert did a nice job today, as did the team." Coach, just to clarify, Gabbert will be your starter for the next game? "Gabbert was our starter today, and I don't have a comment past that, OK? We got a win today." Obviously, you're not going to get into whether Gabbert's the starter against Seattle, but it http://www.coltsonlineofficialstore.com/Robert-Mathis-Jerseycould invite two weeks worth of discussion about who's your quarterback. Why won't you say who? "I'm not going to get into all that today. I'm going to go back and watch tape. Blaine had a great day, OK? I'll talk about what a great job Blaine Gabbert did today and the great job the team did in getting a win." Obviously, Tomsula would prefer Blake Bortles JerseySeattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll spend time preparing for both of his quarterbacks when the 49ers take on the two-time defending NFC champions after this week's bye. That's more valuable to San Francisco than whether the media gets its answer about Gabbert. Just as obvious, though, is that Gabbert deserves another start. Despite throwing a pair of picks, he threw two touchdowns to tight end Garrett Celek on 15-of-25 passing, with journeyman Shaun Draughn as his lead running back (58 yards on 16 carries) and seldom-used Quinton Patton as his top receiver (70 yards on three catches). Kaepernick hadn't thrown a single touchdown pass in the previous two weeks. Sure, Gabbert might resort to being the guy who posted a 5-22 record and an abysmal 66.4 quarterback http://www.shopjaguarsnfljersey.com/Bradie-Ewing-Jerseyrating in three seasons as a starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2011-13, but considering San Franciso owns a 2-6 record with Kaepernick starting this season and a 1-0 mark with Gabbert under center, what's the harm in giving the latter a second shot in Seattle? Maybe he's progressed as a player. If Gabbert lays an egg against the Seahawks, maybe the motivation from having to watch Russell Wilson while holding a clipboard will better serve Kaepernick moving forward. Or maybe his relationship with the 49ers is beyond repair and the Gabbert era officially spells the end of Kaepernick in San Francisco. Of course, there is one reason the 49ers could still be considering keeping Kaepernick as their starter.
