4 Ways to Style Track Pants

by Green S. CEO

Track pants is a fancy word for sweatpants or joggers. They’re your casual, go-to pants when you’re looking for a soft, breathable, and movable pair of pants to wear.  Most of the time they’re worn for athletic reasons, but with the athleisure trend on the rise we’re seeing more of these pants out and about for every reason other than to work out. We’re not complaining! Who wouldn’t want to wear track pants and look cool doing so? If you’ve never heard of athleisure, then we’re sure you’ve at least seen it. A ton of high rated celebrities have been seen sporting the look. It’s the perfect balance of athletic clothing and leisure clothing making track pants the all time favorite of this look. Here are four ways to style track pants if you’re not headed to the gym.

Accessorize

This may be a no brainer, but the easiest way to dress up a pair of track pants is through accessorizing. Take the pressure off the track pants by accessorizing with your favorite pair of high heels or pulling out those dangle statement earrings. Even adding a pop of color in your lipstick can make track pants look fancier than you could have imagined. We’ve seen a lot of people choose track pants that are solid in color, but don’t be afraid to try track pants that have a variety of hems or embellishments.

With a Crop Top

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again. The most important thing to do when styling your athleisure look is finding the right balance. When you decide to wear track pants as your pants for the day, it can easily turn your look downhill if it’s not paired correctly. Track pants are naturally a little baggy as they’re meant to leave room for movement and not be restricted by any means. Because of that, it is important to balance the track pants with a top that isn’t too much. That’s why we suggest pairing it with a crop top. It’s our favorite because it adds personality to your look without drowning you in fabric.

Pull Out Your Favorite Hoodie

You might think a hoodie would do the opposite of what you’re trying to accomplish, but when styled right you can have an outfit that leaves you with compliments for days. Since track pants need to be dressed up, adding a hoodie can make the situation a little trickier but it’s easy. All you have to do is play with different colors, patterns, and utilize your favorite graphic hoodie. Balance out the outfit by choosing a bold color of track pants and balance it right with your favorite casual hoodie. Top it off with a pair of flats, heels, or sneakers and you have yourself a completed, styled track pants look.

Boots

Our favorite of all is styling a pair of track pants with your favorite pair of boots. More times than not, track pants are cuffed at the ankles. Remember that these pants were intended for athletes, so the cuffed pants make it so that the athlete isn’t tripping over excessive fabric. This makes them best friends with your favorite pair of boots. It’s a fun way to play around with boots of different colors and patterns in order to dress up the track pants. We suggest avoiding knee high boots where you tuck the pants into the boots because then that takes away from the overall look and can leave you feeling unbalanced. Go for boots that allow the ankle cuff of the pants be tucked under the ankle part of the boots. If you’re styling with the right pair, then they’ll still find themselves in the spotlight.
