4 Tips for a Better Vacation Getaway

by Kevin Smith Author

Looking forward to your next vacation getaway in Georgia is only half the fun! Your actual trip is going to be such a blast, but you can make it even better! Take advantage of these four tips to make your trip easier, and much more enjoyable.

Pack Light

It is so easy to over pack. You can spend days agonizing over what clothes, shoes, and accessories to bring - and you still might not even wear them. Don’t spend minutes and hours deciding on an outfit when you could be spending in the Georgia sunshine. Bring the basics, your favorite outfits that you know and love. Also, any extra room you have in your suitcase can be used for those great souvenirs you’ll want to bring home!

Do Your Research

Be prepared when you arrive in Georgia by doing some research ahead of time. Find attractions that interest you, and most importantly, find out where they are and when they are open. Nothing ruins a day of vacation like finding out the one activity you’ve been looking forward to isn’t open. Check websites for hours, costs, requirements, limitations, and any need-to-know information.

Plan but Don’t Schedule

Create an outline for your getaway based on your research. Think about places you want to visit, the food you want to try, or popular attractions that are a must-see for you. Keep these in a list, but don’t map out your trip minute by minute. Be flexible and start each day with your most important activity. From there, you can explore, take your time, and enjoy every minute of your getaway.

Remember to Relax

With all the hustle and bustle of exploring a new place, it's easy to forget to relax. A vacation getaway is a time to rest, relax, and breathe. During breakfast, or while waiting for dessert after dinner, take a few moments to just sit back and relax. Enjoy the fresh Georgia air, the new scenery around you, and the company of your travel partner so you can return home rejuvenated.

Consider these four tips when planning your next vacation getaway in Georgia. There are so many amazing places to say and see, you will not be disappointed. Just remember, don’t bring more than you need. Do some planning, but not too much scheduling. And of course, take time to appreciate the getaway before it is time to head home.
