4 Steps To Successfully Use Spices in Your Kitchen

by Tyler P. A Passionate Blogger - Entertainment
Spices are the main ingredient of any dish that adds the right flavour and texture to the meals. Not only giving them the taste, but spices also add a tempting appeal to the dishes as well. As a food enthusiast and culinary artist, I love to experiment with spices and try to infuse them into my recipes as much as possible.

It is essential to understand the right way to use every spice in your dishes. For instance, if you purchase five-spice powder which is made from a blend of five-spice ingredients, you must know how each flavour of the spice will add to your dish. This way, you can make the optimal use of the spice in your hand.

In this article, I will be discussing the right way to use spices in your kitchen to make the best use of these amazing flavour enhancer.

Store Your Spices
Storing the spices is the foremost thing you need to do when you bring them. I would recommend that you must store all your spices in a cold and dark place. Use airtight containers to keep them away from the moisture. Also, don’t keep them right above your stove as the excessive heat can damage their flavours.

Check The Expiry
Irrespective of the type of spices you buy, it is essential to check the expiry date of the product before buying it. It is evident that the expired spices will have less flavour and dull colour that would not bring the required taste to your dishes. Hence, it is better to check the expiry date when you bring a store product.

Use Dried Herbs Properly
Dried herbs are quite different from the spices. They require some time to release their flavours. Trust me; dried herbs can infuse great flavours when they are left for some time. You cannot just use your dried herbs like that. It needs a proper storage facility. For instance, when you buy mixed herbs, you can use them in your sauces and stews as it would need some time to release the flavours.

Invest in Spice Grinder
You would agree that freshly grounded spices are way better than the pre-ground spices. So, if you want to use freshly grounded spices, you would need to invest in excellent spice grounder. There are plenty of product options available in the market, but you need to think before investing in any. Consider your needs before making any investment.

The Bottom Line
There’s no doubt in asserting that spice ingredients can add the required flavour and texture to your dishes. It depends on you as a cook and kitchen manager to handle your spices and put them into good use. I personally prefer storing my spices in the right place, so that their flavour could be kept intact.

The above mentioned were the steps to cook with your spices successfully. Next time when you think about bringing spices into your dishes, make sure to adhere to these steps for best results.
