4 Reasons Your Business Should Use Private Proxy Servers

by Mark Ambrose Manager

Most people associate proxy servers with unblocking geographically restricted content online, such as Netflix shows or YouTube content. In reality, proxies can do much more than just allow you to watch your favorite TV shows, especially for companies wanting to protect their data online.

What proxies do is they act as a middleman between the user and another server on the internet. The user’s private IP address is concealed, and the proxy’s IP address is shown instead.

At first, it may appear as an insignificant change, but using a proxy can improve a number of business processes, including security, productivity, and user satisfaction.

If you are not using a proxy for your business, here are 4 reasons you should consider buying one right away.

Improve corporate security

Cyberattacks have become one of the biggest threats for corporations anywhere. Even the smallest data breach can be expensive, both interns or public image and monetary losses.

Proxies can act as a buffer for internet users, as it masks the source of requests made to a server, denying hackers access to valuable corporate data. Even if hackers get access to your proxy, they will have a very hard time managing to access the server your data is stored on. Sure, top hackers may not be kept away by a proxy IP alone, but it sure does minimize your chances of exposure.

Anonymize sensitive tasks

A private proxy is known to be helpful when trying to maintain online anonymity, which can be a very important aspect for businesses. Security officers and media people, for example, rely on proxy servers to protect their anonymity and the identity of their sources, clients, and partners.

If you have to carry on sensitive tasks, a proxy server can help protect your data and keep out any unwanted eyes from peaking into your activity. Anyone who wants to see what your business is working on will have a much harder time trying to identify your IP address and online presence.

Balance server traffic

Customers can get very annoyed at a company’s website is going down when they need it most, which can lead to decreased customer satisfaction. To prevent that from happening, all you need is a proxy server and cloud data storage.

In the cloud, your data is usually stored across many servers around the world, but peering can help your network handle huge traffic. But because you can’t go ahead asking people to try out ISP after ISP until they reach that content, a proxy server can be used to create a single web address and use it as an access point.

Control internet usage

To prevent employees from accessing unsecured websites on company networks, you can run your internal network on a proxy server. This way, the network administrator can control which device gets access to the network and which websites those devices can access.

This allows you to block unwanted pages, record what content is being accessed and when, as well as monitor for potential illicit activity.
