4 Reasons Why You Should Stop Following The Crowd

by Sagar Chauhan Digital Marketing Analyst
Herd mentality and following the crowd has become a common sight because of the peer pressure; people who follow the crowd are considered sane while those who don’t are termed crazy or insane. However, following the crowd limits your success and binds your wings from taking the higher flight. The greatest scientist of all time, Mr. Albert Einstein once said, “The person who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The person who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever seen before.”  So, if you want to succeed in life and move ahead of the crowd, you would have to stop following it in the first place. Still not convinced, here are some of the other reasons why you should never follow the crowd and make your own path.

It Is Holding You Back From Succeeding

One of the biggest reasons why you should not be following the crowd is because it is holding you from succeeding in life. You would not be able to achieve success unless and until you stop following the crowd. You will have to think differently from them and make your own path that will lead you to your success. You need to go against the crowd, think outside the box, and do things that others are afraid of doing. Taking on new endeavors is what will make you stand out from the crowd to achieve greater heights; following the crowd would only make you a part of it.

You Have Your Own Unique Needs
Everyone has his/her own unique needs. By following the crowd, you are suppressing your needs and fulfilling the needs that you never had in the first place. You need to satisfy your unique needs to be happy and by following the crowd you would not be able to satisfy these needs. Once your needs are unsatisfied because you neglected them while following what others were doing, you will remain unhappy for life.

It Affects Your Ability To Make Decisions
By following the crowd, you lose the ability to differentiate between what’s wrong and what’s right for you. You would only do what the crowd you are following so blindly is doing. You will find it hard to make the right decision for your life once you start following the crowd. You would be unable to trust your basic instincts and would rather start doing what others do, You m might start feeling that the crowd is doing is the right thing and you need to follow it religiously without any questions.

It Kills Your Creativity
Your creativity would be killed if you stop using your creative mind. You might start thinking things that the crowd is following to be good enough for you. You might start feeling that what the crowd is doing is the best you can do and stop using your creative mind to think outside the box. Once this thinking dawns on your personality, you stop being creative and ultimately, your creativity dies because of following the crowd.

So, in the end, it all boils down to following your instinct and making a path for yourself instead of blindly following the crowd. The best step you can take towards achieving success in life is to step aside from the crowd and start following what you feel is right for you.
