4 Reasons to Buy a CNG Car

by Maruti Suzuki Best Cars in India

It’s not always the environmentally conscious people who buy a CNG car. More than looking after the environment, it is also about cutting down on car-related expenses as CNG costs cheaper than petrol or diesel. However, is CNG car a better option for any car buyer? Well, it majorly depends on the car buyer’s requirements whether a CNG car can be a good option. In most dilemmas, it comes down to preference.

Nevertheless, this does not discredit that a CNG car is a better option. Here are some reasons to explain that:

1.Cost-effective

CNG costs lesser than petrol. Why is that? Because the natural gas (compressed, to make it CNG) is abundantly available in India and is easy to make. As mentioned, there is a significant price difference between CNG and other fuel options which means a good saving on fuel expenses.

Although CNG car costs more, it doesn’t take much time to break even that cost and start cost-cutting on fuel prices. So, in the long run, you get benefits.

2.Good for the environment

As mentioned before, a CNG car is good for the environment as it is not as polluting as a petrol vehicle. This is the reason why most public vehicles in India are now CNG-driven. In a CNG engine, the combustion releases carbon dioxide and water vapour. Consequently, the reduction of harmful carbon monoxide is by 90-97% and of nitrogen oxide by 35-60%.

3.Filling up the CNG is easy

Contrary to the popular belief, no one has to open the bonnet to refuel the car. The space for filling the CNG is provided under the same flap as the petrol variant. The only catch here is that since it is gas, fuelling takes slightly longer time.

4.Consistent Performance

It is a common myth that drivability of a CNG car is not as smooth as that of a petrol car. This is nothing but a myth. Most people who complain saying this are the ones who got the CNG engine retrofitted. This is rarely a good option because if a car is designed to run only on the petrol, the aftermarket CNG kit messes up the over-functioning and performance of the car. However, buying a car with a factory-fitted CNG engine does not face these problems because the car is designed to work with a CNG engine.

These are only some of the advantages that a CNG car offers over its petrol and diesel counterparts. So, in case you want to buy a CNG car, you can confidently go ahead with your decision. For instance, you can visit the nearest Maruti Suzuki Arena showroom to check out the prices of Maruti Suzuki S Presso CNG and other factory-fitted CNG cars like Wagon R and Alto.
