It’s important to have the car checked out before you buy, so setting up an inspection with your Kingsgrove mechanic is a great idea. Once the car is yours, you can easily get to work every day, run your errands and meet friends for a fun evening at a restaurant or concert. Regular maintenance and service by your Kingsgrove mechanic will keep your car running right.

So now you know how much easier your life will be with some wheels under you, let us entertain you with three weird and wonderful car facts you should know;

1.         My How Times Change

One of the first speeding tickets in the world was issued on January 28, 1896. A wild driver named Walter Arnold was seen flying through Paddock Wood, Kent at over 12 km per hour. That was four times the local speed limit of 3.2 kmh.

Way back then, not only were you supposed to drive at striding speed but you also had to have someone walking ahead of the car waving a red flag to warn people that a car was coming.

2.         As Many Vehicles as Adults, and Planetary Trips

In Australia, there are about as many vehicles on the roads as the number of adults. That’s over 14 million cars and adults.

It’s estimated that the average Australian drives about 14,000 kilometres per year. All told, Australians travel 182 billion kilometres every single year. That’s the same as 20 times the distance between Pluto and the Earth.

3.         A Legend Is Born

According to legend, the pick-up was first invented in Geelong, Australia. A local farmer wrote a letter to Ford in 1934 asking that they create a vehicle that would take his pigs off to market and yet be good enough for Sunday Church.

The result was the Ute, which achieved fame as the best-selling vehicle in North America for almost fifty years. For many years it was the favourite vehicle in Australia, and it’s still near the top of the charts now too.
