3 Important Things To Do Before Hiring A Virtual Assistant

by Jeremy Banks Evolutesix
So, you’ve come to realize that you do not have enough time in your hands to finish the tasks you need for the day. You’ve been running errands while thinking of the tasks you haven’t finished and it's stressing you out.

You’ve probably heard about virtual assistants and all the good things they can do for you and your business. However, you may remain hesitant because this also means that you are about to let someone you can't meet personally into your company. Or probably you are already set on hiring one but aren’t sure yet on what to do first.

VA

To help you with that, here are three of the most important things you should do before hiring your first virtual assistant:

Create a System

First, choose the task that you want to delegate and then do it yourself—but with a timer.  After that, do a written manual or a video on how to complete the tasks. Give an estimated time limit. Do this for the rest of the tasks.

Creating a system will make the transition a lot easier. It will be your guideline as well on how you will delegate the tasks. Another big advantage of creating a system is that you can avoid micromanaging. Remember that your VA is just human like you. A system allows them to stay on track while enjoying the freedom to be creative and efficient.

Define A Clear Role

If you hire a virtual assistant to fill in a role, he or she will be trained to complete all the tasks related to it.

To start identifying the roles, list down all the task that you need to delegate. If you need assistance on admin tasks, then you need to find a virtual assistant with excellent administrative capabilities. If you need help on your accounting and data entry, then you should be looking for a bookkeeper.

This will reduce your time management to a minimum.

Rules

Research, research, research

Just like any new venture, you should not be hasty. Do your research thoroughly. There’s a lot of information available online that will help you with your hiring process.

Search about the role that you are going to hire, the pay scale and of course, the platform on where you will post your job listing.

The Truth is...

It might not work on your first try. If you are scared, don’t worry – that’s completely normal. Besides, you are passing the reins to someone you haven’t met in person. But with due diligence, you will find someone that will become an integral part of your team.

They can relieve you from the repetitive and mundane tasks of your business. And just like you are letting them into your business, they are also letting you in to their lives. Keep in mind that it has to be a team effort. Be sensitive about the expectations and needs of both parties. Now hire a virtual assistant and take back your life!
