2207 Super Duplex tube

Super duplex tubing have very high corrosion resistance which makes it ideal for onshore and offshore environments in oil and gas industries. Super duplex stainless steels are a group of grades of stainless steel which have various ranges of corrosion resistance levels depending on their alloy content. Super duplex tubes have marvelous resistance to acid chlorides, caustic solutions and other acids which makes it ideal for use in chemical environments. The high strength, corrosion resistant super duplex tubes have also seen an increase in its implementation in the marine and architecture industries as well.

 

The four types of super duplex tubing that we manufacture at Instinox are:

·         Hot finished seamless super duplex tubing (HFS): HFS tubing is manufactured with respect to outer diameter and wall thickness dimensions. It is more cost effective than cold drawn seamless super duplex tubing. It is used in tubing that requires thicker walls and higher strength.

·         Cold drawn seamless super duplex tubing (CDS): CDS tubing offers better machinability, increased strength and tolerances compared to HFS tubing. CDS increases the tubes physical properties.

·         Electric resistance welded (ERW): ERW process involves spot and seam welding. In ERW the sides are trimmed to control the width and the condition the edges for welding. It is then passed through a number of contoured rollers which cold form the carbon steel into a tube.

·         Drawn over mandrel (DOM): DOM is not exactly a type of super duplex tube it is more of the process in which the tube is finished. The manufacturing process is almost the same as ERW except that in the end stages the tube is cold drawn over a mandrel.

In heat exchangers in petrochemical and chemical processing.
The grade is also suitable for instrumentation applications in tropical marine environments.
