2 BEST E-COMMERCE SOFTWARE PLATFORMS FOR SMALL BUSINESS

by Pradeep S. Digital Marketing Strategist
Entering the e-commerce world may seem like a daunting task for any small business, especially if you're not a tech expert. However, there is no reason to worry. There are several easy-to-use e-commerce platforms designed to help small businesses open their online stores and start branding the business. Before choosing your supplier, you should consider some factors. To start with understand what you want to achieve, and define your needs before creating a web store.

Depending on your technical skills, you can choose self-hosted or hosted e-commerce shopping cart software. Hosted platforms are good for business owners with busy schedules and minimal IT skills. Self-hosted platforms, in turn, are designed for companies that are more technologically savvy and require more participation and technical skills. In this piece, we have compiled a list of two hosted e-commerce software.

SHOPIFY
As the name suggests, Shopify is about helping you create an online store to sell online and, in my opinion, it's one of the most robust all-in-one e-commerce platforms there is.  It is also one of the most popular e-commerce sites in the market today. Shopify currently has more than 150,000 stores that use its platform. With Shopify, you can upload an unlimited number of products with a simple check on variations and general inventory. In addition, you can simply brand your store, design it with your branding colors, upload a cool logo to make it your own.  Also, it comes with a discount code engine, and you will not have to pay for transaction fees.  One of the many advantages of Shopify and probably what makes it scalable for any business is its App Store; which offers more than 1000 useful, free and paid apps. With more than 500,000 active online stores, Shopify it is one of the largest e-commerce platforms available. Its exceptionally easy-to-use interface allows business owners with virtually no IT skills to create beautiful, personalized online stores. Shopify is aimed at small start-ups and large e-commerce operations that generate millions of dollars.

MAGENTO
Magento is an exceptionally flexible e-commerce platform in the sense that it can be adapted to the needs of small or large companies, which is probably the most scalable platform on this list.  The platform owes its popularity to being open source, which means adding functionality is extremely easy.  For example, if you want to increase conversions on your site, add eCommera or Barilliance, a free extension that tracks visitors' unique behavior and offers them suggested articles based on their online actions.

Magento could be a good choice for growing companies; it is complicated to use compared to the standard platform for e-commerce resellers for the first time.  While this should not discourage small business owners when it comes to integrating Magento in your workflows, I suggest you rely on your ability to learn the details of the use of such a sophisticated platform before using it.
