Ethanol: What is it?

A flavourless, combustible liquid, ethanol is also known as ethyl alcohol. It is the fermentation-produced alcohol used as a solvent and found in alcoholic drinks.

What applications does ethanol have?

• When they are diluted, ethyl alcohol may be found in beer, wine, and spirits.

• It is a topical component used in cosmetics, scents, and pharmaceutical preparations (such rubbing compounds, lotions, tonics, and colognes) to prevent skin infections.

• Many chemical substances, including lacquers, plastics and plasticizers, rubber and rubber accelerators, aerosols, mouthwash products, soaps and cleaning solutions, polishes, surface coatings, dyes, inks, adhesives, preservatives, pesticides, explosives, petrol additives/substitutes, elastomers, antifreeze, and fuels that are labelled as "ethanol-blended fuels," may contain ethanol.

High Proof Alcohol

Any alcoholic beverage containing more than 60% alcohol, that is 120 proof alcohol is considered as high proof alcohol.

190 proof ethanol (95%) and 200 proof (100%) ethanol are high proof alcohol. Maximum Alcohol Proof

Absolute High Proof Alcohol

For creating tinctures, herbal oils, natural medicines, culinary extracts, and herbal essence extracts, the ideal extractor is alcohol with a high proof alcohol; two times the alcohol content of proof. As a result, vodka with an ABV of 40% is 80 proofs whereas vodka with an ABV of 45% is 90 proofs. 100 proofs or above (50 percent ABV) is considered a "proof spirit."

190 proof ethanol with the highest potency for tinctures, Rick Simpson Oil, essential oil extractor, cannabis, medicinal mushrooms, and a range of other herbal remedy concentrates is Extractohol 190 proof  alcohol and Extractohol 200 proof food grade alcohol.

Even though you would think the higher concentration is more effective, experts contend that 70% is really better for disinfection. Because it includes more water, it penetrates cells more readily, dissolves more gently, and kills microorganisms. When rubbing alcohol concentrations above 80%–85%, part of its disinfection effects are lost. Ethanol, which contains 95% reagents, is the main analytical solvent. It is also used as a disinfectant in a number of laboratory applications when diluted to 70%.
