17 Little Ways to Make Life Better

by Angina Berryz writter
We all want to make our lives a little better and honestly, it does not take much effort all as it is the small things that make a huge difference.  Let’s take a look at an extensive list of little ways, to make your life better and easier:

1. Put fun things on your to-do-list.
There is always going to be: “laundry”, “dishes”, “take Johnny to the dentist”, but it is important to prioritize: “being awesome”, “taking a break”, “laughing”, and “do a random act of kindness”.  By increasing your list with some positive things, the entire list will be less tedious, and you have made time for fun.

2. Keep a pair of scissors in every room.
These inexpensive little gems are small enough to keep, any and everywhere. This little trick will save you the time, energy and aggravation, of going into another room to get them, and then going back into the room, to return them to their “proper place”.

3. Buy a small gift for someone (a stranger or a friend) for no reason.
Buy a bouquet of flowers, and give a flower to everyone you meet.  Purchase an extra cup of coffee for the person in line behind you.  Random Acts of Kindness will definitely make your life better, but you have no idea of the positive effect it can have on the person receiving your kindness.

4. Pay bills on line, and have monies automatically transferred into a saving account.
Savings are not a luxury; it is the part of any good budgeting plan.  By having your regular monthly bills, including savings, automatically removed from your paycheck, it will reduce anxiety, which will automatically make life, in general, a little better.

5. Enjoy a cool cup of water upon waking up.
After a good night’s sleep, your body is dehydrated, and if you don’t replenish it on a daily basis, it will get progressively worse, as the day goes on.  A well-hydrated body will have your skin looking better, a negative mood will improve, and your overall health will be grateful.  Drinking water first thing in the morning and throughout the day is part of a healthy diet plan.

6. Live at the moment.
The past is gone, and tomorrow is a mystery that is not guaranteed.  Your story, up until this point, is written in ink, but you can control the ending.  Make every moment of your life count, and make a positive difference in someone else’s life – you will not be sorry.

7. Forgive.
Even, if it is the person that cut you off on the highway.  Harboring bad feelings will have a negative impact on your mental and physical health.

8. Re-watch a favorite movie.
Perhaps something you enjoyed as child, that you know all the words and laugh before the scene.  Share it with someone that has not seen it.

9. Pray.
Prayer offers us the opportunity to release ourselves, from controlling everybody and everything.    Praying on a regular basis is something that everyone encourages if your goal is to have a healthy lifestyle.

10. Of course, choosing to live a healthy lifestyle is in everyone’s best interest.

11. Breath.
This automatic response sounds simple, right? But, what if you consciously pay attention to your breathing.  Take a long slow breath in, hold for a second, and while you breathe out slowly – feel all the tension leave your body.

12. Meditate.
This act has been studied and proven to be a great mood booster and stress reliever.  In addition, your mental health will improve, and you will not succumb to feelings of anxiety and depression.  Just 15 minutes a day of quiet time, reflecting on all the blessings in your life, will have a positive effect on you and everyone around you.

13. Know the length of your hand.
For instance, if the distance between your middle finger and the palm is 8 inches, then you can measure anything, without having a specialized tool.

14. Read a good book.
A classic, or something from the top 10 reading list, is a much better choice than playing a computer game, watching TV or checking your social network status.

15. Eat lunch outside and take a walk during your lunch break.
This little lifestyle change will give you a better outlook on the world.  As a bonus, you will be getting fresh air and exercising.

16. Stop complaining.
Every time you catch yourself saying something negative (either internally or externally), re-phrase that particular thought into something positive.

17. Don’t compare your life with others.
You don’t know the battles they are facing, and the grass is not usually greener on the other side.  Enjoy the people that are around you, the material possessions you own, and your health.

18. Smile often.
This is one of the simplest things to do, and it makes a big difference to you and everyone you pass.
