Contact Requests on APSense
One of the things I love about APSense is the way members are networking with other members on the website.
There is nothing I like better than to open my activity page and see pending contact requests.
Most times, I approve them right away. However, in the not too recent past there were some spammers (it could have been only one person with several accounts under several aliases) who tried to take advantage of the system to spam members.
What these people did was to register many aliases and post contact requests to members. Whenever any member accepted the contact request, they start spamming them with their business urls without even getting to know who those contacts were or if they were interested in such businesses.
As a result of the above, I became wary of new members who were making contact requests. I do not approve fresh members right away. What I do now is to give them a few days and see if they have become active in the website in some way. If they have, I approve them otherwise, I simply give them more time.
However, that is not to say that the Admin of APSense has done nothing about spam and spammers. Apart from the head-on fight initiated by some members, the admin has taken proactive action to reduce the menace of spams and spammers.
Therefore, go ahead and make the contact requests. I am waiting to approve them. When you receive my own contact request, make haste to approve me. That way, we shall continue to network at APSense.

When I get a request I check out the persons profile quickly and if everything seems okay, I click yes and dam the torpedoes. It like love...occasionally you'll get hurt...what can I say.

Sending a PM is good idea, cause then they receive an email, but if they didn't care in the first place...
I keep hope that some of them will come back, after all, we see many long time members who come back, word must be spreading that APSense is hotter than ever :)

I do agree with the post, I should have said in sentiment, I have many contacts requests that after approved are never heard of again even after trying to pm in fact I would say 40 -50% of all contacts remain inactive

Sean, my comment to you was based on this: "As a result of the above, I became wary of new members who were making contact requests. I do not approve fresh members right away."
cause you said you agree with it 100 %. Sorry if I misunderstood what you meant.

@ Philippe, If you read my reply you would see I said quote "I agree totally with this post"
As communication is the cornerstone of my success in Business, I think maybe my form of English may have been lost in translation,
and nowhere in this post did I say I don't accept contact requests in fact quite the opposite I approve all requests

Sean, to get to know someone, you have to be able to communicate with the person, which is impossible if you don't accept the contact request in the first place. Of course, you can respond to a comment made by the person in an article, but it's awkward.

Personally, unless the message written by the person sending me the Contact request is something like the Nigeria Scam, you know, "I'm a young girl, found your profile interesting, send me email at iamascammer@stealyourmoney.bad and I will send you pictures", in those cases, I send a PM to Cheryl or Wincer to have them delete the account.
Otherwise, I accept everyone. What you're saying is too demanding for me, as there are more than 100 new members every day, and anyway, I send contact requ
