Click Thru Rate (CTR) vs Conversions

I have only recently started to pay attention to CTR. Well, it's easy to so at AdHItz.

From the beginning of my Wiki-Clix promoting frenzy, I have put a banner ad and a text ad at AdHitz.

Until 2 days ago, I didn't get as many clicks on the text ad as on the banner ad. It changed yesterday, when I wrote this for the text ad:

1 Month FREE Premium Membership, Promo 1,000 clicks $1 !!!

vs the banner:

Today, for both, I got 29 clicks. It looks like my new text ad is a winner. The "200 referrals..." statement since to be more attractive, I guess.

What's interesting is the number of sites where the ads are shown on the AdHitz ad network.

The banner is shown on about 1,000 sites. The text ad on around 2,000 sites.

The CTR for the banner is 0.015. For the text ad, it is 0.03.

When people click on either of the ads, they get to the same splash page.

The text ad is designed to attract members and advertisers. I'm not a master copywriter, so I'm not sure how successful I am at getting advertisers with it.

The point of the article is, how important do you consider CTR  vs conversions?

Teodor told me last week the most referrals I got for Wiki-Clix was from AdHitz.

I know that at BizOppers, I don't get nearly that number of clicks per day. Only banner ads are allowed there.

What do you think of all this? Any expert in these matters ?
