Twitter, The Numen Of Social Networking
According to the World English Dictionary, a numen is (esp in ancient Roman religion) a deity or spirit presiding over a thing or place and a guiding principle, force, or spirit . In the realm of social networking and Internet marketing, Twitter has become very much like a numen, the pervading force in the background of most of our social networking activities. Most social sites have "Twitter buttons" to re-post our social site posts, blogs, articles, ezines and here on APSense, our "Rev pages". Twitter gives marketers great "leverage" in promoting their Biz-Ops and programs, because despite the seeming overload of information on Twitter, people really do read your Tweets and click on the links in your Tweet. In reality Twitter posts are more like text ads than "micro blogs" when online marketers Tweet. A truly successful social networker has a marketing niche following in Twitter among people who don't consider marketing Tweets spam and who are eager to connect and possibly join your ventures. Ignore Twitter to your own peril when it comes to social networking and online marketing. Utilize Twitter and the social networking "gods" will be with you. LOL!

Mohann and Just Me, think about it. Most social sites are Twitter and Facebook connected. In my opinion Twitter is much more targeted than Facebook, though Facebook is great too. The key is "leverage". Twitter simply amplifies or doubles whatever you are posting about to another audience and all you have to do is post that one time. Building and maintaining a Twitter account helps tremendously in online marketing, as I see it.

I am also a sceptic as far as Twitter is concerned but your article makes me to re-consider. I think you do us all a great favour by leaving a few special tips on how to more effectively use Twitter for marketing. Thanks for the nice piece.

Honestly, I don't really understand how twitter works. Every time I log in, I don't know where to go and what's new unless I'm leaded by a link or so. I think most people consider facebook as number one social network! It's easier to use and understand! Or at least, I guess so.

Absolutely agree with Roosevelt that a targeted follower base is the solutions to this. And I think that was the reason I had good conversions initially, buy this is also true that we have no control on the people who follow us. Anyone can find your link and follow you and eventually you have a big group. Anyway as I said it's just great if you are getting success with twitter. I take your word and will try to do something with my account.
Philippe yes, at the end of the day more conversions

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would say the CTR is not important, it's the number of clicks overall in a day that counts. If the CTR is lower because you have more followers, but you have double the number of clicks, that's a beautiful problem. :)
And more importantly, if you get more conversions, that's even sweeter

Hey, Sunny. I have a very targeted Twitter folowing. Nearly all my followers are Internet marketers. I would imagine that most of your followers are not Internet marketers. I have always felt you can have too many Twitter followers. I really don't want hundreds of thousands of followers because it's too much to handle.

This first thing a twitter a/c holder should do is to get followers in your market areas otherwise your tweets will not read, thank you.

That's really great Roosevelt that you are getting clicks on your tweets. My experience is that when I have a fever followers almost all my tweets had I would say a nice click through ratio, but as my follower base has crossed 6.5K the click through has gone down. Even I am not able to read all those tweets and DMs that literally flood my inbox.
Just written an article on it, would like to know and learn what SECRET you have? ;-)

How did you track your tweets ? Are you talking about tweets you made manually, or also the automatic ones from APSense and elsewhere ?

Philippe, there was a period I tracked my Tweets and every Tweet I made got at least twenty clicks. Ninety percent of my followers and the people I follow are online marketers, by my own intention or design. That plays a part in the high click rate. Twitter works!

I was under the impression that few people read tweets. I guess I might reconsider it, thanks to you, my friend.
