Kuala Lumpur Bird Park Holidays

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is the largest bird park in the world where the birds fly around freely. The bird park is located in the Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is also called KL Bird Park. It is the largest bird park in the world where birds fly freely. The park is divided into different sections, like the parrot section, the section containing ratites and raptors. Not all birds fly around, some are sitting or in a cage. You walk in the park if you were walking outside. The majority of birds are found holidays in Malaysia. There are more than three thousand birds and more than 200 different species.

The park

The park look very nice. There are good trails and it?s large so you have to walk a great distance if you want to see everything. Because you just walk in the open air it can get very hot. Fortunately, there is plenty of seating and shelter of the trees and bushes. There are several ponds and waterfalls inside and the birds and nature are beautiful. There are several shops inside the park, where you can have a drink or eat ice cream. You?ve usually a nice view of water or waterfalls. Everything is also very clean. In addition, the bird cages of the birds that are in cages are also very clean and spacious.

Parts of the park

Love Aviary
In this part you will find Apaporis parrots. There is also a daily show where you can feed the birds during birds watching tour.

World of parrots
World of parrots is a small cage where a lot of Lori?s flying around. For 2 Ringgit you can feed them. There?s also a smaller house with different species of parrots.

Brahminy Land
At Brahminy land you can see all sorts of raptors. These birds all appear in Malaysia. There is also a special show every day where you can see how the birds are fed.

Hornbill Park

In Hornbill Park you will see hornbills what is the official national bird of Malaysia. There were a few in cages and normally they fly around but because they were busy rebuilding there weren?t any. There are normally always monkeys but again also these weren?t there.

Flamingo Pond
There is a lake with a waterfall, where you can see flamingos, among others. You can see more water birds and there?s a snack bar overlooking the waterfall.

Waterfall Aviary
Again you will see a beautiful waterfall. In this section you will see many different types of fish-eating birds.

Bird Shows
Throughout the day there are several bird shows in KL Bird Park. Find them at different times and you can often see how the animals are fed. The most spectacular show is probably the bird show in the Amphitheater. This is two times a day and you can see parrots doing tricks. The show contains humor and is very suitable for children. Most of the shows in which birds are fed generally take place between 10.00 and 12.00 hours.

Education Area
There is a kind of museum where you can learn a lot about the birds in the park. There are like skeletons and eggs and there is much information. There are also a few stuffed birds.

Restaurant
There?s the Hornbill cafe. Here you can have lunch or dinner. I have had a plate of spaghetti, which tasted pretty good and had some iced tea. The prices are not too high. It was about 14 Ringgit (about 5 dollars) and that is a very reasonable price in Malaysia. Everything was clean and you could also look into the kitchen what looked good.

Souvenir Shop
There is also a souvenir shop near the restaurant. Here they have all kinds of souvenirs such as stuffed animals and cards. Everything that has to do with birds and you will not see really souvenirs from Kuala Lumpur itself.

My opinion

When I heard this bird park in Kuala Lumpur, I knew that it was something I wanted to visit. I went at the end of the afternoon and certainly didn?t regret it. The park looks very nice and very well designed. There are also many different birds but sometimes it was a bit difficult to spot them and some I couldn?t see at all. Luckily I have seen the bird show, which was fun. The people gave the show with great enthusiasm and that was a good way to deal with the birds in the show with wildlife tours.

What I found a pity was that the Hornbill area was being rebuilt, so I couldn?t see the flying hornbills. The KL Bird Park is because of the shows and the birds really very suitable for children. I think they have a good time here. You can easily spend half a day. The best time to visit this park is probably in the morning. Not only because of the bird shows, but also because of the weather.
