A very popular item or rather items are the rare Pokemon promo cards series. This collection is influenced by the Nintendo game and has been a high end trading series to boot. Each packet includes a selection of various characters and ranked items. As in any market the popularity and shifting themes often affects which cards hold greater value than others.

Some are calculated high in rarity due to limited amounts available for purchase, while others are highly rare in popularity. Though, many are valued in conjunction with the availability and popularity, sometimes the value changes for unknown reason.

The ultimate rarest cards are called, Secret Cards. These cards have a special number representing the overall amounts printed and also the unique number of production.

The most expensive and powerful card is included in, Diamond & Pearl series. This card is called the Lv. X and has its markings stating such at the upper corner along with a rare star symbol. It also is coated with the holofoil and is ranked just below the 'Secret Series'.

A coating which is individual to the Pokemon cards is called a holofoil effect. This produces a sparkling effect which is reflective from the card. Cards with this affect are very hot on the market. There is the opportunity to mistake these though, with others that have a plain sparkle coating.

The 'Crystal card' is part of the E-card series and is just below the 'Gold Star' card for importance in collecting. The Crystal has different markings to acknowledge its type. The main symbol is within the body. Yet, it does also have the special rare sign placed by the upper right hand corner.

The Shining Mewtwo is highly listed for collection and value. It is just next to the Gold Star as popularity, though luckily there are more of them floating around. This may not necessarily make them easier to obtain, though it is possible. These are found in the Neo promo sets.

Many cards can be identified of their selected group by symbols in the upper corner. The ones marked with 'ex' are do not hold much value due to the large number that were produced.

Sometimes the noted valuable cards with a reflective shiny coating are misunderstood to be Reverse Holo Holo cards. These do not typically hold much value other than a selected few, which changes as the popularity of characters shift. There were large quantities of this series made though it still may be difficult to find one sold. This could be due to the low value.

Holo are known as ultra-rare cards. Sometimes mistaken as a standard Reverse holo, which is a scary mistake. The cards are all marked with the rare star emblem and mostly have low numbers.

Reverse holo (singular) is another basic card, though it could bring some value. The popularity of characters sometimes varies with rare Pokemon promo cards. Just the image is shiny in the EX sets. The game card series does have some tricky cards that may easily be confused for others so it is important to study the difference. Otherwise is could bare quite costly choices.
