Most of us will go on one fad diet after another with little to no results before we finally realize that a weight loss exercise program is vital.

Actually, your results in the long term are more likely to reflect the workouts you put in, not your diet! Let's take a quick look at how a weight loss exercise program can transform your body.

Calorie Burn

The simplest formula for weight loss is to eat fewer calories than you use. If you can accomplish that consistently you will lose weight quickly because your body will have a deficiency of calories needed to burn off for energy. The rest of the calories required will be pulled from your stored fat cells.

When you are gaining weight, you are giving your body an excess of calories and forcing the excess to accumulate in your fat cells. To lose weight quickly you need to do the opposite, which is to short change your body on calories to a certain extent. It's important not to restrict calories too much or you will eventually convince your body you are starving, which will once again force your body to hang onto every calorie available. It's a delicate balance.

2. You will need more calories to perform the exercises in addition to typical daily movements, so your body will have to burn stored energy from your fat cells.

Note that this demands cooperation with your diet. In order to lose weight quickly you cannot eat more food with the rationale you are burning more.

Lean Muscle Mass

The most amazing thing your established weight loss exercise program will do for you is develop more lean muscle and make you appear smaller and healthier than you may actually be. If you can schedule in at least a couple effective strength training sessions each week, you will see improvements in how your body is shaped and how your clothes fit even if the scale isn't registering a huge loss every week. A well toned, lean body is always more attractive than one coated in flab.
