Billboard.com reported that Kelly Clarkson’s fourth album "All I Ever Wanted” led Nielsen SoundScan's March 11 Building chart. That sets her on track to debut the album at the number one spot. Her lead-off single “My Life Would Suck Without You” spent two weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard charts earlier this year. Clarkson’s album will be competing with U2’s “No Line on the Horizon,” Taylor Swift’s “Fearless,” and Lady GaGa’s climbing album “The Fame.” Fellow American Idol winner Taylor Hicks also released his newest album “The Distance” the same day. Corbin Bleu from High School Musical also came out with his solo album “Speed of Light,” which doesn’t have the slightest chance of taking over the American Idol Queen. The reviews of “All I Ever Wanted” have been great nearly all across the board. Her album was unfortunately leaked by Norwegian iTunes two weeks before the release but the initial numbers still look good. There’s no telling what the numbers would have been like had the leak not happened. I think it’s a testament to the quality of the album that people that may have downloaded it early (I’m not naming names) still went out to buy the album this week. Digital sales are great, preorders were fabulous and Kelly Clarkson’s clearly back where she belongs: on top. Clarkson's first number one came with her debut album, "Thankful," which came in with 297,000 albums sold on the tally dated May 3, 2003. Kelly Clarkson’s last release, the much disputed rock album, "My December," came in at number 2 on the Billboard 200 with 291,000. It has sold 788,000 in the U.S. to date. “Breakaway,” arguably her most successful album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and then went on to spend sixty-one consecutive weeks in the top twenty. She went six times platinum with it by selling 6,044,000 copies. So, what do you think, will Kelly be back on top? How will all her performances and appearances affect the sales numbers? Have you purchased the album yet? What do you think?
