Stimulus checks
Hi all. I know this subject applies only to residents of the USA. Here's the deal. Pres. Bush's idea of the stimulus package making the economy in the USA grow is flawed. Now I'll TAKE $$$ from the gov't ANYTIME they are willing to hand it out. But here is the FLAW. Bush seems to think the $$$ will go into 'buying sprees'. Not so. For most Americans this $$$ will go into gas tanks(more for the oil companies) or medical expenses or credit card debt. For us personally we WILL be buying a few items. But mainly, I have roughly $300/month doc bills and that is after MY insurnce pays. My wife has no insurance and has some major dental expenses racked up so far. So MOST of OUR stimulus money will be going to doctors and oil companies because we have a 100 mile round trip 3 times/month to one of my docs. So I don't see HOW THIS will stimulate ANYTHING except the pockets of those who ALREADY have MORE than enough $$$ already. Well I hope Bush does another package because we certainly could use the extra $$$.

UPDATE!! We FINALLY got our stimulus $$$ direct deposited and along with that, SOME UNDERSTANDING on ALL the confusion. So pleas allow me to CLEAR THINGS UP by EXPLAINING HOW this works. FIRST thereARE going to be people WHO WILL NOT get ANY $$$ at all. his applies only to military people who are married to a foringer. If a military person has a spouse that was born OUTSIDE of the USA and that spouse has not fild for a social security card and/or has no social security # then that FAMILY will no

Hi Indrit,
We are paying about $3.60/gallon in the USA some places are as high as $4.00/gallon or more. I do not know how much of a difference there is between a liter and a gallon but I am POSITIVE we are paying MORE than $0.7 per liter. Sounds like YOU are getting a much BETTER deal than we are.

I was surprised to hear that a liter of gas in USA was something 0.7$, while here in my country is 1.2$

The stimulus check is not very great, but as a new online
entrepeneur, I intend to use use it to upgrade my position
in my fastest growing business. It will be a small investment,
but hopefully a good investment.

A very big chunk of our money has already been earmarked for the many "Shadow Companies" that suddenly popped into view at the start of the war... And these companies have nearly immunized themselves from the oversight of American law at every opportunity as a matter of doing business...
Shameful practices, shoddy and corrupt services... Rewarded with taxpayers money gleefully and freely, just like they handed them the keys to the treasury and said "Go for it!"

I think if we would all be honest, we'd have to admit that a lot of our problems come from party-line politics. Politicians and citizens are so busy toeing the party line that they don't look at the issues. I've often heard people say "I'm voting for_________" When you ask them why they tell you because I'm a republican or I'm a democrat, it's mindless follow the leader thinking with no thought to the ultimate outcome.
I think we need to get rid of the party system, no party affiliations at

the sad thing is I voted for Bush both times. I will vote anyway and I will stay with republicans. I'll give McCain a shot. We'll see what happens in Nov.

Honestly, from where I'm sitting, the economy has started sliding down hill from BEFORE bush was even president his first term. The economy started sliding when our jobs started going overseas.
The year before he was elected, we had THREE major plants close in our area, thousands of jobs were lost.
While I agree that Bush is not a he president I had hoped he would be, I think the last 20 years of presidency has been a fiasco.
that said, It's not entirely the president's fault. Congre

Hi Joseph,
It's nice to know that someone from OUTSIDE the states has a grasp on the situation. Here is the point: OUR(the USA's) SAD state of affairs WILL effect EVERYONE worldwide. I minored in poitical science in college plus have studied history ALL my like. I also took a LOT of marketing and economics courses in school. Here is my view(my opinion anyway). Bush is the WORST president in US history, YES even WORSE than HOOVER(as history shows the great depression FOLLOWED his admin). What

Working on one project at a time.
You know living in Canada and really having nothing to do with what is going on in the States, but we are now feeling the same pain as if we where living in the states. The effect the economy is having is a very serious problem. Look at what your paying for a gallon of gas, consumer spending is way down, no one has any money left over from filling their vehicles.............i do think it will get worse, much worse before we see any improvements, layoff's are occuring at a record pace..........

thingds are going to get a lot worse. Especially if a democrat wins in november. Bush will do things that a Democrat can't possibly fix but the foling president wil get the BLAME for BUSH'S errors. He IS the WORST president in US history, he is bty far WORSE THAN Hoover who brought on the 'Great Depression'

I'll get a darn good meal out of it, at least...
The average family is so much in debt BECAUSE of this administration, and will be for many years to come... :(
