Information on Diabetes Melitis
DIABETES MELITIS
Diabetes melitis is a disorder in which blood levels of glucose
(a simple sugar) are abnormally high because the body doesn't release or use
insulin adequately. Type I diabetes melitis (once called juvenile-onset
diabetes, and now referred to as insulin-dependent diabetes) results
from an autoimmune reaction that destroys the beta cells in the pancreas,
leaving the body unable to produce insulin, at all. Type I diabetes
accounts for nearly 10% of all diabetic patients, and is much harder to
live with and manage than adult-onset diabetes.
The pancreas is a fish-shaped organ that stretches across the back of
the abdomen behind the stomach. Within the pancreas there are areas that
are called the islets of Langerhans. Beta cells constitute the
predominant type of cell in the islets. The beta cells are particularly
important because they make the insulin. Degeneration of the beta cells is
the main cause of type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes.
With Type I diabetes, early symptoms may progress rapidly to a
condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. Despite high levels of sugar in the
blood, most cells can't use it without insulin; thus they turn to other
sources of energy. Fat cells begin to break down, producing ketones,
toxic chemical compounds that can make the blood acidic, resulting in a
systemic pH that is unhealthy. Without treatment, diabetic ketoacidosis
can progress to coma, sometimes within a few hours, and without insulin
injections, death may occur within a matter of days.
Type I Diabetes is not easily controlled by diet and exercise, as Type
II diabetes is. Type I diabetics must carefully monitor the balance of
carbohydrates to other foods at every meal. The best way to do this is
by cutting back on saturated fats, and boosting consumption of grains,
fruits and vegetables.
There is good news for those suffering from Type I diabetes melitis.
Tiaga Immune Tea has been helpful in reprogramming the immune system, and
in the process, correct the autoimmune condition that destroys the
pancreatic beta cells. Anything that encourages this reprogramming will
hasten the event. Of particular importance is establishing an alkaline
body pH (O2 Basic Essentials and pH Basic Essentials), maintaining a
proper, low acidic diet, and taking a quality antioxidant (MGA-PLUS) to
continually scavenge the free radicals that are ever present, and which
are known to be instrumental in over 60 degenerative diseases, including
diabetes.
The re-programming, which could take a year or so, allows the pancreas
to once again produce beta cells, as the Creator intended, and may
drastically reduce, or even eliminate the need for insulin injections.
Proper diet, an alkaline pH, plenty of antioxidants and a strong
balaced immune system will assure a healthier existence day in and day out,
the absence of chronic disease, and probably a longer lifespan, as well.
LHN offers exceptional, modestly-priced nutrients, to assist in this
effort.
