Depends on whether you want customers for your products or services, or just traffic and sign ups - as they will probably be freebies too. Never tyried it for sign ups. Maybe I should!
Probably ok for a "networking marketing " site but not if you are selling anything serious. Manual surf maybe, but for products, I'll go with Eric on the autosurf.

...but i think i'll stick to what my google analytics stats show me... and will keep enjoying the traffic i get from search engines... that way i'll know people are actually surfing for what i have to sell.

... yeah i would agree that serious marketers may well use hit exchanges every day. But professional marketers won't use them much (if at all) - Manual Exchanges maybe, but Autosurf - Not likely!
For me it comes down to the professionalism of the people you want to sign up to your business. If you use Autosurf to promote if you are lucky enough to get any sign-ups at all you will get others who will use autosurfs to promote also...
