Egg Nog-- The Holiday Drink For The Brave! LOL! Jennifer Get ready To Rock!
I'm very generous with my "Pouring Hand", especially when it comes to making drinks that are blended with a bunch of stuff in them... Higher proofs are called for to allow the alcohol to come to the forefront, and not become lost in the mix...
I have much respect for those who can consume a sweet drink with high alcohol content and still be able to make it through the evening's festivities! :)
"Maker's Mark Eggnog."
.Ingredients:
1 liter Maker's Mark
1 quart milk
1 quart heavy cream
2 dozen eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
nutmeg for garnish
Separate eggs and beat yolks until creamy. Whip sugar into yolks. Beat whites until they stand in peaks, adding 1/2 cup additional sugar, if desired. Beat yolks and Maker's Mark together, add whites. Beat cream. Add cream and milk to mixture. Add nutmeg to taste and garnish each cup with nutmeg. Makes 2 1/2 gallons.
Now, if you are really interested, Makers Mark is 90 Proof in the bottle-- There is a Barrel Strength whiskey at 114 Proof.... But I don't think the guys on the Space Shuttle will appreciate you dancing on their hull while they are orbiting Earth! LOL! :)
By the way, I invite you all to join me as an Ambassador for Maker's Mark, it's free and there are all kinds of goodies and privileges to be had with this esteemed position-- Just PM me an email address, and I'll send you a formal welcome! :)

I have actually met John Wayne back in the days when I was doing celebrity escorts and stuff... he wasn't in the best health, but he was nice to my crew...
Looks like he had tossed back a few himself in his day, but I didn't get the impression that he was the eggnog type! :)

Well I'm in Texas. What's the worst that could happen? John Wayne fighting the Battle of the Alamo in my backyard? LOL! Egg nog isn't eggnog without a powerful "kick".

Old Coot, My sentiments exactly-- Egg custard was probably what the Lady of the House was trying to make when the Man of the House sneaked up and goosed her-- This caused the her to spill the pint of whiskey (no fancy small drinks back then) she had been drinking into the mixture, and.... as any whiskey lover will gently tell you, "DON'T YOU DARE WASTE A G*DDAMN DROP, YOU FOOL!" and History was made...

Just plain honesty
Now I am thoroughly confused.
What on earth is Whiskey doing in a recipe for Egg Custard?
When my wife or I cook (usually me) there is always Brandy - but we don't put it in the food, we drink it as it is.
Have we been doing it wrong all these years?
Happy eggnogging!
