The Weeds Are Taking Over My Garden!
Today, after several hours doing battle with HTML code, I decided that it was
time to quit the PC, and go outside for some recreational gardening.
Spent at least an hour, weeding about two square metres of garden, removing
the grass and weeds from around some plants.
What I want to know is, "How come those weeds and grasses grow much faster
and much better than my plants?"
The more I remove them, the more they seem to multiply. There must be some
secret weed society which is working to take over the world.
You look at your shrubs, and there are the weeds, hiding under the foliage.
Check the flower bed, and they are growing through the cyclamen leaves, hiding
in the daffodils, lurking in the ferns. Wherever you look, there are more of
them, growing overnight and taking over.
Sometimes I think it's going to become like "The Day Of The Triffids" (Great book,
by the way) and they're almost ready to make their move - soon they're going to
eat me, when I go out there to pull them up..........

It's great, Jen, being able to go out into your back garden, and pick some
fresh veggies! I don't have that many varieties, but what I do have is
certainly a saving.
I have silver beet (Chard) peas, broadbeans, string beans, lettuce, tomatoes,
onions, parsley, beetroot, chives and leeks at the moment.
Also trying to grow strawberries, raspberries, red currants, apples, plums,
sultana grapes, lemons, limes, figs, olives, apricots, cherries and apples.

Hi Lisa,
I took out the plastic because I found it was souring the soil. Makes for more
weeding and work though.
In my front garden, I have Australian natives only, with a lot of mulch, because the
smaller plants aren't doing very well in the drought. There is also a small
cacti succulent patch, recently moved from the back, and a small corner near
the house which I left when I moved in, which is a bit of a mixture of plants.
Not forgetting the weeds!
The back is a few trees a

It's funny, some weeds are good for us, but not very welcome in the garden. I finally paid somebody to help me out this time. I was busy cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and the weeds were taking over my yard. I so agree with you, why cant' the nice stuff in the gaden grow as fast..lol. I put plactic tarp in all of my beds about 2 years ago, but guess they have deteriorated now. I'm going to try to do a litle weeding every week now, and see how that goes. Love to see a picture of your garden.
