Toy Recalls
As Christams nears, it seems as though there are more and more TOY recalls. We are going to have to be extra cautious this season people!
Just last week end, I bought my daughter an AquaDots Studio. That was one of the first items on her Christmas list and one of the top 12 HOT items for Christmas at Wal-Mart. Of coarse I wanted to buy it early. I did purchase it and have it all prettily wrapped and stored away for the BIG DAY.
As I was working away and listening to the news - The Aqua Dots have been recalled. When ingested, it is causing death in small children. Unfortunately the drug found in the popular date rape drug is also in the beads included in the Aqua Dots. OMG! Not that I think my 9 year old would actually swallow one, but we do have friends with very small children and we also have pets that like little chewy things. All have been taken off the shelf. As this is going to crush my daughter, I am so glad they caught it in time before half the children in the world have them.
The next day - Curious George animals have been recalled. Before that - model cars containing lead in the paint.
I am going to be watching this very closely from now on. I didn't realize this was getting to be such a trend but IT IS!

So many toy recalls! I was in a hurry but I noticed the whole area that Wal-Mart has for recalls is full and more flyers to go up.
I am going to try to get a full up-to-date list and post it..
That really makes me only want to buy children ALL NON-Toys!

It really does seem that way! They had a big oil spill in Russia today also..
I went to Wal- Mart today for some errands and looked at the recall list... OMG.. There is not going to be anything left in the toy section before long....

What with the recalls, the high school students getting that staff infection and now the oil tanker off the coast of California...are we being subtly attacked?

That is true Cheryl. I WAS really worried a bout drunk drivers not toys..... But the aqua dot thing really got me worried.
I really hate to think what my grandkids will have to go through!

I'm still trying to figure out how those of us over 40 made it to adulthood without toy recalls childproofing delayed toilet training and early introduction to solid foods etc. God help children today if they had to grow up back then.

From now on I am going to make it a point to research toys and the like before I actually hand them over to my children..
it is almost to the point where I don't want them to get anything new!!!!

Holy Cow! Why in the world would they put a chemical associated with the same stuff as the date rape drug into anything? How sad. I did not know about this. Thanks for posting this information.
