How on Earth can someone do this????
As a mother, having 3 children of my own. I could not ever....ever even imagine the thought or type of person it takes to do anything like this. I use to LOVE to hear my children cry...especially when they were infants. Please watch this and pass along. DO NOT EVER...EVER...EVER!!!!! SHAKE A BABY!!!!!!!!

Hmmm...how do I put this.
Most victims of sbs are from the most trusted care givers put in charge of taking care of the infants.
Now, I can not sit here and say having 3 children that I never got 'frustrated' with the cries (especially having a colicky baby). But I knew how to handle myself.
Shaken baby syndrome is happening way too often. Mostly because for most people the reflex is to just grab and shake something.

Have just been having a look at the video - there seem to be a lot
of daycare providers guilty of this.
My niece works in this field, and I know she has to have a yearly
police check. Do they have any kind of check like this in the US?
Not that it would stop a first time offender though.........

Yes it is just unbelievable! I mean I get aggravated at my kids.....BUT WALK AWAY! I even tell them....you don't want to mess with me right now. And I just go and find something to calm me down. Or even counting and taking deep breaths works. But take it out on a child.....
And Emily that is a good point too, because yes the elderly are going through the same thing. It is just outrageous!

This is an important topic....
I am also a mother of three. During my 9-5 days, my mom and dad and grandmother pitched in to help me with the children so I would not have to leave them with strangers. I know not everyone can be as lucky though. We have to be really careful. I still worry when my children go to a sleepover at a friends house that I do not know real well. Things can change so much in the blink of an eye.

It is so scary...because honestly I never thought about any of this when I handed my children off to a day care or baby sitter. Thank goodness I was blessed with wonderful sitters *now don't get me wrong...I never just handed my kids off to anyone'...and the sad thing about it...neither did the parents that are going through this.
