I welcome you folks who still remember how much fun it was to have glue scraped out if your hair and off of your skin, all for the love of art! :)

Even today, I can appreciate what Arts and Crafts has done for me over the years--

Back before desktop publishing, an advertising apprentice had to use scissor and newspaper to create mock-ups and guides for the printer to follow and also for campaign demos...

I became very good with construction paper and stencil guides, and the dreaded glue-- mucilage was the worst, But it worked well for making presentable doll-houses that I used to make to impress my Female classmates in grade school! :)

I also liked paper-mache' ( I know it's probably spelled wrong- but I've always spoken French much better than I've even written in French anyway...)

Through the years, I've applied what I've learned to make money, too! Photograpy, Painting, Wood Carving... Even rock and driftwood collecting and shaping them into "Art" pieces that I could sell.

My fondest memory of art will always be the experiences that I had with my younger brother...

We had both had developed a taste for "Good Food" (Despite the fact that I nearly blew us both into the stratosphere) and Junior High cafeteria food was, to put it mildly, a total pile of manure!

So we figured that if we wanted to eat better-- We would have to come up with a project that we could sell to other kids and make enough money with, so we could sneak a meal at the local steakhouse downtown ( Steak cooked to order with baked potato and salad- 3.99!) every day at lunchtime...

He was into sewing and tailoring, and I was into carving wood. It was the early sixties and tie-dye Dashshiki dress was all the rage, as well as hand carved Tiki and African fetish figures...

We made a few and sold out within one hour at school, and started getting orders from the teachers, even!

Note: You entrepreneurs should always remember the lesson about being prepared for Sudden Success and well as failure....

We made our required lunch money and more, enough to go to movies and sport our dates and stuff like that...

All from pieces of scrap wood and fabric,  and some 20 cent boxes of fabric dye- Plus our imaginations!

Really folks! Even today, that's all it takes-- I know a story about two women who made $2 Million dollars in profit from selling their homemade kitchen aprons, for crying out loud!

Candles, Soap and Shopping bags are all the rage-- Homemade or designed by a Crafter (The Human Touch) as opposed to machines or near-slave labor factories... People want to feel better about what they use or wear and they are willing to pay handsomely for it ...

The time is right and ripe for Arts and Craft folks-- From wine makers to scrapbookers and everyone in between.

If your present foray into the world of Direct Sales hasn't been all that great, (" Business Truly Doth Suck-eth!")why not go inside your "Skills Box" and see what it is that you remember how to do, and perhaps profit from in the Here and Now... The Internet gives you the tools and a market, too! I'll thrown in some research for the best advice that I can find for you, even!

Good Deal? Your're damn right, it is! :)
