* If you drink more than 3 to 4 cups daily of regular coffee or strong brew tea, cut back
* Drink less coffee and tea if you start to suffer from the shakes, irritability and uptight feeling, headaches, a racing heartbeat, or have trouble sleeping
* Avoid both regular and decaffeinated coffee if you suffer from stomach ulcers, hiatus hernia or heartburn
* Avoid coffee and tea for at least an hour after eating. They can interfere with iron absorption
* For some extra calcium, combine your coffee with milk in a cafe au lait or caffe latte
