10 ways to promote a new product or service for your business

by Arif S. Producer | Digital Marketing at IMPEL Learning Sol

I know how tough it can be to get the word out if you've ever come out with a new product or service. You might be offering the world's best new product or service, but if you're not promoting it properly, you might end up losing money. Here are some creative ways to promote your small business with a new service or product.

Here are 10 ways to promote a new product or service for your business:

·         Offer Customers an Exclusive Preview

Your loyal customers are a key part of how to promote your product, as most likely they are the first to buy it. Offer a unique preview of your new product to customers. This can be a private party, an explainer animated video, a pre-launch party, an online demo, or a special invite to check the new product. These exclusive deals would make them feel good to loyal customers and hold them home.

·         Post to Google My Business

You can post to your Google My Busines profile in two ways about your new product or service. The first is to create a post from Google and select the option "promotion." The second is to upload “profile pictures” of the new product or service. Check out the Add Photos to Google My Business Profile for help.

·         Email Marketing

Did you know that 82% of customers open corporate emails and 44% of email recipients made at least one purchase last year based on a promotional message? Email marketing is a great medium for advertising by newsletters and one of the best ways to promote a new service or product.

Email newsletters allow you to easily share brand updates, images, and customer information. Offering an exclusive offer or sale from there is a great way to so-called "seal the deal" and get cash flowing your way.

·         Share on Social Media

To announce and share this on social media is another way to promote new products and services. If you use the above tactics, make sure you share any of them on social media, including customer-exclusive events, open houses, opportunities for trading or upgrading, gifts, customer reviews, and images. If you find that customers are posting on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram, make sure to share these photos with your own followers to encourage people to try out your new product or service!

·         Share Customer Reviews

One of the best ways to promote a new product or service is to let your customers speak for you by sharing reviews. If you take advantage of some of the ideas previously mentioned and offer an upgrade or free preview to customers, ask them to review the new service or product online or to provide a testimonial for you to share. People are more likely to sign up or try it out if another user has a glowing review.

·         Offer an Upgrade or Trade-In

If your business is more service-based than product-based, such as a salon, spa, fitness center, or consultancy, you can offer customers an upgrade to try out your new service. Offering your hair salon a new facial or massage? Provide a free upgrade to try it out for existing customers! Expanding the knowledge of consulting? Offer loyal customers expanded offerings so they can see the difference!

·         Host an Event

Hosting a party or an open house at your company is another way to get people to your physical location. Hosting an activity is a good way to get people into your company physically, which improves their chances of becoming a customer. Events need not be fancy and super-organized; something as simple as an open house or info session will work for locations such as lounges, fitness centers, yoga studios, spas, and retail stores.

·         Social Media Contests

Contests, gifts, and prizes are a popular tool among marketers of the highest quality. What's the reason? Marketers know social media contests work!

Social media contests are a fun, easy way to connect with clients and bring more fans to your social media platforms. For example, a simple Facebook contest gets 34 percent of new fans per campaign on average. Since organic reach on Facebook is small, that's huge!

·         Facebook Ads

Facebook is a door into a huge market with 1.44 billion active monthly users. That's why an effective marketing tool is Facebook ads. Facebook is especially useful in concisely targeting your audience, as the impressive collection of data from Facebook allows businesses to target by gender, age, location, interest, and more. You also have a range of options for the type of ad you want, and by setting a limit on how much you want to spend on a daily or monthly basis, you can easily stick to your budget.

·         In-Store Promotions

Brick and mortar companies have an extra opportunity to promote a new product or service in-store. The # 1 thing you need to do is to give people a reason to go to your shop if you want to learn how to sell your brand in your studio or store.

Including stylish logos and banners, you can also advertise your new product or service in-store with inside signs and promotional materials. Offer exclusive discounts in-store, such as a buy-one-get-one-free or a discount rate. You could also market your product to your retail store as exclusively available. Whatever your promotion, make sure it's not going to last forever. When it comes to your brand, consumers whose purchasing power is limited, either by time or supply, feel more urgent to purchase.

If you’ve got a new product or service that you’re looking to promote, try out one of these 10 methods of getting the word out.
