Wherever you choose to go, a tubing vacation can be the most exciting experience for you and your family. Your trip can be completely safe if you do your part. But there are a couple of safety measures you’ll have to take on the trip.

  • Make sure you use sunscreen before you finally set out to go on the tubing trip. You need to protect your skin from the nasty sun burns. Apply and reapply sunscreen as often as you can because you will be in the sun for a long time.
  • Carry comfortable clothing and shoes. Flip slops may not be ideal because they may come off. Don’t go barefoot.
  • If you are planning to rent a river tube, then make sure you carry enough cash to get one. Most of the places will only accept cash payments. You can even choose a double tube if you’ll be going to the trip with your loved one.
  • If you choose to bring your own tube, make sure you purchase the right one. Also make sure you carry the air pump to fill the tube while at the site, or find a location with air fills.
  • When you go river tubing, avoid carrying any valuables with you to the river. Things such as cell phones, jewelry and eyeglasses can be easily lost in the water. You can leave them in the lockers provided when you check-in. But if you really have to carry them then put them in a Ziploc bag that you can store in the cooler.
  • Have a cooler where you can put your beverages and snacks when you go river tubing. Make sure you have a bag to put all your trash in the cooler to avoid littering the area.
  • If travelling with kids, make sure they wear a life vest when going tubing. The fast moving water can be dangerous for the young ones even if they can swim.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water, and carry some with you when going tubing. It’s easy to get dehydrated when you are out there tubing.
  • Carry your hat and glasses to protect you from the sun. You will be exposed to the sun for hours so the best you can do is to protect yourself. But be careful because you can easily lose these items in the water.

Consider getting a PADI certification whenever you enjoy outdoor activities like tubing and cave diving. It’s a great way to show you learned a new skill.
