10 Reasons Why Bio Diesel is the Future

In India, Biodiesel has been in news recently due to the government’s decision to make it mandatory for public transportation like buses and autos to run on alternative fuels like biodiesel by 2022. But what exactly is biodiesel? How does it work? What are its hidden benefits? Here are ten advantages of using biodiesel that you may not know about yet!

1) Biodiesel is Compatible with Regular Fuel

Biodiesel can be mixed with regular petroleum diesel, so it can be used in any engine. When we think of alternative fuels, it’s important to note that they don’t require us to change our existing infrastructure—if it runs on regular diesel fuel, biodiesel can run in it too. This allows you to use bio diesel without major adjustments to your vehicles or stations (unlike electric cars). Biodiesel has a higher energy density than traditional fuels: One gallon of biodiesel yields more energy than one gallon of gasoline and two gallons of ethanol. It produces lower emissions: Because biodiesel is made from renewable resources like soybean oil or animal fats, its emissions are much lower than those of fossil fuels.

2) It’s Cheaper than Gasoline

You can save up to 40% on your fuel bill by switching to biodiesel. That’s an extra Rs. 6000/- a month in your pocket! And because it’s renewable, biodiesel won’t ever run out and become expensive like fossil fuels. So you don’t have to worry about high prices again—or even gas shortages! (Unless, of course, there are oil shortages.)

3) Biodiesel Has Fewer Emissions

Biodiesel emits lower levels of particulate matter and carcinogens than petroleum diesel. It also releases lower levels of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, which are harmful to human health. When you burn a gallon of biodiesel instead of diesel, you're saving toxic chemicals like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene from being emitted into your environment. And that's just for starters!

4) Biodiesel Can be Produced in Large Quantities Locally

One of biodiesel’s best benefits, is that it can be produced locally and cheaply. Not only does this produce far less pollution than traditionally-produced fossil fuels, but it also means that you don’t have to rely on foreign imports in order to meet your fuel needs. The price of crude oil and its derivatives fluctuates frequently, sometimes increasing sharply in response to unrest or weather events around world. This makes biodiesel a comparatively stable investment with low overhead; you might see some variation from month to month, but it won’t be as big as what you see from fossil fuels. Biodiesel Fuel Has Fewer Emissions: Another benefit of biodiesel is that it produces far fewer emissions when burned compared to traditional diesel fuel.

5) Ethanol Fuel Will Become Obsolete with the Advancement of Biodiesel

Much like solar panels and wind turbines, ethanol fuel will become obsolete with the advancement of biodiesel. The lower production costs, as well as higher efficiency levels are just a few of several reasons why biodiesel will become more popular. Ethanol costs about $1.50 per gallon to produce, whereas biodiesel only costs $0.75 per gallon to produce, making it cheaper for consumers than ethanol in most cases. Ethanol has also seen many advancements in recent years, meaning it could soon reach cost parity with biodiesel...Just not yet! You still get twice as much power per gallon from using biodiesel as you do ethanol - which means you get to make longer trips on a tank of fuel without having to refill your tank.

6) Biodiesel is Environmentally Friendly

Biodiesel does not contribute to air pollution because it does not contain sulfur and nitrogen compounds. Biodiesel burns much cleaner than diesel, which reduces emissions by 90% compared to traditional diesel. The most commonly used biofuels are biodiesel and ethanol. Ethanol is a renewable energy source made from corn and other plant materials that can be blended with petroleum-based fuel such as gasoline or used on its own in any vehicle that runs on gas.

7) Biodiesel Saves Lives

Biodiesel reduces carbon emissions. And that means, in turn, less greenhouse gases are emitted into our atmosphere. In fact, for every gallon of biodiesel used, about 2 lbs. of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) emissions are avoided. Biodiesel also increases air quality through its reductions in particulate matter and ozone pollution. And it reduces other pollutants including smog-forming nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxide emissions associated with diesel fuel combustion by more than 90 percent when compared to conventional diesel fuel on a BTU-per-BTU basis. The cleaner burning qualities of biodiesel also allow more modern pollution control systems to be used on all vehicles – trucks and cars – that use it, increasing their lifetime value and saving vehicle owners even more money over time.

8) E85 Flex Fuels Can Be Used as Renewable Energy to Power Vehicles and Homes

E85 flex fuels can be a great addition to your vehicle. Not only do they provide you with more horsepower and torque, but they also reduce emissions and allow for greater fuel efficiency. The great thing about E85 flex fuels is that you can use them both in your car and at home. While some people may not understand how these two uses are related, it’s actually very simple. By installing a system that runs on E85 flex fuels, you’ll be able to turn your lawn mower into an electric one that won’t emit any harmful chemicals into our air. Plus, when you choose to use E85 flex fuels in your car instead of gasoline or diesel, you will also reduce dangerous carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 25 percent or more!

9) Biodiesel Doesn’t Need Special Equipment to Use it

Unlike many alternative fuels, like ethanol and electricity, biodiesel can be used with vehicles that run on diesel. This helps to reduce vehicle costs, as you won’t need to buy a new car or truck just to convert it over from gasoline. Rather than purchasing an entirely new vehicle, most people will just install an aftermarket biodiesel kit in their existing cars and trucks. This helps keep cost down substantially.

10) Biofuels Are Renewable, They Get Their Energy from Sunlight.

Biofuels get their energy from sunlight and turn it into something we can use as fuel for our cars. They are a renewable source of energy, meaning they don't run out. Because biofuels get their energy from something that never runs out, we won't ever have to worry about them going extinct like fossil fuels will. In fact, biofuels could one day save us from extinction if fossil fuels were to ever run out.
