Primary task of a solar charge controller

solar charge controller is used by almost all the devices which use batteries. It helps to increase the health of the battery life by stabilizing the voltage fluctuation and also controls the flow of electricity. The primary task of a solar charge controller is regulating the power which is passing from solar panels to the batteries.

Working of a solar charge controller

Solar charge controller is an important part in a solar power system. Solar charge controller is used for regulating and maintaining the flow of current properly in the solar powered appliances. Solar charge controller is connected with the solar panels which absorbs the light. It controls the  overflow and underflow of current which can damage the appliances and also decreases the life of the battery. It fixes a point which is called maximum stress point and monitors the feedback of the sensor. If it founds that the temperature exceeded the maximum stress point then it stops or regulates the flow of electricity. The main component inside the controller is the semiconductor. The overload protection of this device is high. Moreover it has a discharge protection and have a automated electronic fuse which helps the whole electronic circuit.

Advantages of using solar charge controllers

1. It mainly jams the overturn current. It works on the principle of pumping current through the battery in one direction. At night the current flows in both the direction resulting in slight discharge from the battery. But the charge controller’s chunks reverse currents with the use of a semiconductor which restricts the current to flow in both the direction and to flow in great amounts.

2. When the battery gets fully charged it can’t intake more incoming charges. If it continues it loses the health. At that time the semiconductor restricts the extra flow of current. Over charge also leads to small explosion. It is due to extra overheat the water gets decomposed into bubbles, hydrogen and oxygen. There remains a risk of igniting the gases due to heat. These problems are restricted by solar charge controller.

3. It manages the set points. The temperature of the set point generally varies with the body temperature of the battery. It has an automated concept of sensing the temperature of the battery.
