High efficiency detergents are not good options for traditional washing machines. It is made only for the use of HE washers.

There are few considerations we have to think about when choosing whether we should use powder or liquid detergent. Most front loading washers indicate that you can use either powdered or liquid HE detergents. If your machine has delay start options, it is advisable for you to use powdered detergent because liquid soap can be poured into the machine earlier that it has to be. If there is no delay start feature in your machine, either of the two would be fine. You must also consider the temperature of your water.

If you use cold wash settings, liquid detergent can be used as powdered detergents do not easily dissolve in cold water. Powdered detergents dissolve in water that has a minimum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. Not properly dissolved powdered detergent can cause a build up with in the water and can even stick to your clothes. Some say that powdered detergents are more concentrated than liquid detergents. They claim that every granules of these detergents are packed with cleaning capabilities that will offer better cleaning satisfaction than liquid detergents. Softness and hardness of your water should also be considered in choosing the right detergent type. Many liquid detergents may not work well in soft waters.

High efficiency detergent can be distinguished from conventional detergents because of the HE logo usually at the bottom part of the box or bottle. Look for the HE label on your detergent then read the instructions. Do not forget to read the label if ever there are other guidelines in using the laundry detergent.

Some HE detergents are slightly costly than conventional laundry detergents. It still depends upon the brand of the detergent. Prominently branded HE detergents are pricier than the regular HE detergents. You can choose a store branded HE detergent if you want to buy a cheaper detergent. Store brands, most of the time, do not have added features like bleach, scent or softeners that will surely save money and will provide more satisfactory cleaning performance.
