Practice followed by the directories listing business enterprises and information about them in the past was providing a printed version for the interested people. However, this has now changed as they are displaying the information on their website with the advent of computers and Internet on the scenario. Another departure from the past practices of giving out only the desired listing is that for premium clients the directories often provide complimentary listings of enterprises of similar nature or dealing with similar products and services. Even though there are not search engines in strict sense of the term, they also provide search facilities within their limited spheres limiting the search to business enterprises and information about them only.
