Urdu Poetry and Literature

by Noumana S. Poetry Blogger

Urdu Literature - that is literature in urdu, developed from the XIII century. BC. Until the beginning of XIX century it was presented as Shair lyric poetry of the religious and philosophical (Sufi) and erotic themes and is under very strong influence of Persian poetry. This influence is evident not only in subject matter and in the assimilation of Persian poetic forms and prosody, but also in the transfer of all the major poetic means (images, comparisons, and so on). Especially it is strong in the vocabulary, so that some authors of Urdu can say poetry in Persian gazelles that are treated by simply replacing the Indian auxiliary verb Persian. Only in the XIX century.

Urdu literature has been remained a subject of all great universities and institutes as it has a great history and legendary writers and poets who have been populating urdu literature with their great writing and creative skills. That is, why many people chose to have a profession of Professor and Lecturer of Urdu Literature.

Urdu Poetry itself is a great subject and there are countless books and publications for urdu poetry since 18th century. South Asian Region, the mother of Urdu Language has born many great poets of urdu, couple of which can be named here as Allama Iqbal, Ahmed Faraz, Mirza Ghalib and Nasir Kazmi. These poets are respectively popular for there particular poetry field like inspirational poetry, sad urdu poetry and ghazals sms. Many of these poets are not alive in the recent times but the poetry they said is still alive in the hearts of people who like good work of these great poets.

I am a professional writer and a zealous fan of sad poetry in urdu.
