UGC NET 2015 Eligibility Criteria

UGC NET 2015 is referred to the National Eligibility Test (NET) which shall be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education on behalf of the University Grants Commission. Until last year, the test was conducted by University Grants Commission after which the onus of organizing and conducting the test has been transferred to CBSE. National Eligibility Test( NET) is conducted twice a year in June and December to determine the eligibility of candidates for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship ( JRF) & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in the Indian universities and colleges. 
 
CBSE NET 2015 Eligibility Criteria is referred to the minimum eligibility conditions which are essential to be met by the applicants who are willing to appear in the exam. This article summarizes the eligibility criteria in detail for the candidate’s perusal.
 
CBSE NET 2015 Eligibility Criteria 
     
1)In order to be eligible to compete in CBSE NET 2015, the applicants should ensure they have obtained at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree OR an equivalent examination from any universities/institutions recognize by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. While, candidates belonging to OBC-NCL,SC,ST, PwD category should have secured minimum 50 % marks as mentioned above to be eligible to apply .
2)Such candidates who are currently appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and those whose result is still awaited or such candidates whose qualifying examinations have been postponed are also allowed to apply provisionally. Such candidates will be considered eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed the qualifying examination with the minimum required percentage.
3)It is essential that the candidate must appear in the UGC NET Exam in the subject of their post-graduation, only. In case, the subject studied in post-graduation is not included in the list of subjects as per NET, candidates are free to appear in any related subject.
4)It is mandatory for the candidates belonging to the following reserved category- OBC (Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD category to submit their category Certificate alongwith the printed copy of the online application form. In case, UGC/CBSE detects any false information produced by the any candidate with respect to any eligibility, his/her candidature will stand cancelled and strict legal action will be taken against him/her.
 
Age Limit - 
 
1)For Junior Research Fellowship -  As per the CBSE NET 2015 Eligibility Criteria, age of the candidate must not exceed 28 years as on 01 June 2015. The maximum age limit is relax-able up-to 5 years for the candidates belonging to OBC (Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST category as well as Physically handicapped and female candidates .
2)For Assistant Professor:  All candidates can apply irrespective of  age as there is prescribed maximum age limit for applying for the eligibility for Assistant Professor.
