The Wildebeest Migration is considered as one of the Eight Wonder of the World, the greatest spectacular natural events.
Other terms it as The World Cup of Wildlife. If there is a
safari you should go in Africa it’s the Annual Wildebeest Migration in Maasai
Mara and Serengeti National park. I mean
nowhere in the world is there a massive movement of animals as wildebeest
migration more than 1.5 million animals (wildebeest, zebra and Thomason
gazelles) migrate from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania
to the greener pastures of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in
Kenya during Mid-June small herd start migrating through to end
of October every year. Crossing the deadly Mara River to the
maasa mara where hungry crocodiles will prey on them, the battle between life
and death. Hundreds of zebra and wildebeest do dies while crossing killed by

General guide month by month movement of wildebeest.
January wildebeest are in Tanzania's Serengeti, moving south from the northern region and into the southern Serengeti, Ndutu area. It is calving season. Which goes all the way to the month of march. In February and March the animal remain in southern Serengeti, Ndutu area and ngoro ngoro conservancy area. The last carving coming out and preparing on how to make the next leg.
Come April the animals start their northward journey from southern Serengeti plains to the central and western Serengeti. In May and June huge columns of up to 20 km in length can be seen as the wildebeest graze into the central and western plains of Serengeti.
July The herds have reached the western Serengeti and Grumeti Reserves area some have reached the Mara river. The Mass crossing is seen in the month of August, where the spectacular crossing is experienced. The animal cross the mara River heading to Maasai mara national reserve. Upon crossing to mara their break in to smaller bite sized groups. Note not all animals cross the mara river half of them remain in Grumeti plains all this happen in month of September. Animal remain the vast green plain of Maasai mara reserve for the remainder of October and early November.
November short rain start and Serengeti grassland rejuvenate, wildebeest start moving from Maasai Mara reserve to Serengeti plains. December Fresh grazing sees the wildebeest concentrate in the north-eastern Serengeti Lobo area as well as the southern Serengeti and calving begins again, the routine is the same all years.
