Explain how you, as a manager, would encourage an employee to participate in a committee. Would you assign the employee to the committee or would it be voluntary only?
Employee Participation in Committee
The manager is responsible for encouraging employees to participate in the different activities of the organizations. Managerial influence the behavior of employees and motivate them for better performance. It is the responsibility of manager to encourage the employee to participate in the committee. The manager should conduct training and development program, so that employees will understand the aims and working on committees. Moreover, with the help of meeting, manager can convince the employee to participate in the committee (CCH Incorporated & Myers, 2003, p. 265). At the meeting, the manager should explain all the benefits and advantages of participating in the committee.
In addition to this, managers should also conduct the workshop in which all the committee members meet the employees. With the help of this, employee can also able to make healthy relationship with members of the committee. Apart from this, effective communication method is also helpful in developing the better understanding among employees and managers. The manager can also use social networking sites such as Facebook in order to attract the large number of employees for participating in the committee (Macey, Schneider, Barbera & Young, 2011). Therefore, all these strategies are helpful in encouraging the employee to participate in the committee.
It is identified that the manager would not assign the employee to the committee. It will be voluntary for the employee to join the committee. It is because if the manager will assign the employee to the committee then it will affect its overall working. Therefore, it will be beneficial for the manager to provide a voluntary option to employees.
