Flats in Kochi
by Sanjay P. self employed
Kochi is one of the
fastest growing cities in Kerala state. It is also the financial capital of
Kerala. It was a trading hub for several centuries and it is still today. The
ever increasing economic activities have caused an increase in the number of
people moving into Kochi.
As a result finding accommodation for this increasing population has become a
necessity. Like other cities there is a shortage of land. This is the reason
why a number of flats and buildings are being constructed in this city. Many
builders have come up with new projects in the city. Majority of them are flats
in high rise buildings. Many of these buildings come with many modern
facilities. Facilities include car park for visitors and residents, play area
for children, gymnasium, swimming pool, indoor play area for children, Hall for
conducting parties etc. Depending upon the facilities provided, the cost may
also increase. Flats and buildings without these facilities are also available.
The cost of such flats may be less than that of buildings with all modern
amenities. The cost of flats is also dependant on several other factors also.
Proximity to major roads, access to transport facilities, shopping malls etc also
play a vital role in determining the cost of the flats. Reputation of the
builder is also an important factor to be considered when purchasing flats in Kochi. Another important
factor to be considered is the availability of water. Some flats are situated
in locations where fresh water is readily available. Such flats may also be
equipped with their own water purification systems. However most of the flats
purchase water from outside as well. In some locations water supplied by the
city corporation may be not sufficient to meet the demand. In any case it is
better to ensure that the building is equipped with water purification systems.
In addition to finding a suitable
residence many people in Kochi
purchase flats for investment purpose also. Due to the increasing price of
flats, some people have also invested in flats expecting to gain returns in
future. Although the rent available in Kochi
may not justify investing in flats, they hope to gain by selling their flat at
higher price in future. There are also
non resident Keralites who work abroad and buy flats in Kochi. Even though they work abroad they wish
to stay in their own flat in Kochi.
There also some non residents who rent out their flats.
